Amid renewed interest in the Burning Sun scandal, footage of BLACKPINK’s Jennie confronting Seungri for falsely claiming she “touched” him has resurfaced.
In 2019, the Korean entertainment industry was rocked by the Burning Sun scandal, revealing Seungri and his associates’ involvement in sharing illicit videos and prostitution rings.
This led to a public outcry, with many revisiting past incidents hinting at Seungri’s dubious behavior. One such incident from a 2018 BLACKPINK concert in Korea regained attention in 2023.
During this concert, Jennie confronted Seungri over his false claims. She told the audience, “Oppa, I heard you tell people in the background that I touched your shoulder, but I have never done that.”
Seungri, caught off guard, deflected by quoting a line from Jennie’s song “SOLO.” Rosé intervened, asking him to stop, but Seungri joked he couldn’t help himself because he loved the song.
This wasn’t the only interaction scrutinized. Fans also revisited an exchange between Seungri and Jisoo from the same concert. Seungri greeted Jisoo, saying, “Jisoo, it’s been a while.” Jisoo diverted the conversation, commenting, “You were really kind during the concert.”
As Seungri tried to manage the situation, Jisoo continued sarcastically, “I was very surprised because you are so kind.” The awkward exchange ended with Seungri repeating, “Jisoo, I love you, I love you.”
These interactions, once seen as lighthearted banter, are now viewed differently following BBC’s “Burning Sun” documentary. Fans speculate that BLACKPINK members subtly distanced themselves from Seungri’s controversial persona through humor and ambiguous comments, hinting at his true character without getting embroiled in controversy.
