Black Clover Season 2 has delivered one of its biggest moments yet, with Episode 5 earning an impressive 9.9/10 rating on IMDb following Magna Swing’s battle against Dante Zogratis. As of November 1, 2026, the episode had collected more than 11,000 votes and ranked as the highest-rated anime episode of the year on the platform.
The response reflects how strongly viewers connected with Magna’s victory. Unlike several of the Black Bulls’ more naturally powerful fighters, Magna has frequently struggled to keep up with his teammates. His confrontation with one of the Dark Triad’s strongest members finally gives him an opportunity to prove how far determination and preparation can take him.
The episode, titled “The Highest vs. the Lowest,” aired on October 31, 2026. Its official synopsis, published by the Black Clover anime website, confirms that Magna uses a spell developed over six months to challenge Dante’s overwhelming magical power.
Magna vs. Dante Pushes Black Clover Season 2 to a 9.9 IMDb Rating
The episode’s biggest attraction is the way Magna turns an apparently impossible fight into an even contest. Dante possesses enormous magical reserves, Gravity Magic, and Body Magic that allows him to recover from serious injuries. Against an opponent with such overwhelming abilities, Magna initially appears to have little chance.
However, the Black Bull has spent six months developing a technique with Zora Ideale. Known as Soul Chain Deathmatch, the spell connects the two fighters and divides their combined magical power equally. This removes Dante’s enormous mana advantage and forces him to fight under the same limitations as Magna.
Dante initially believes his ability to regenerate will still guarantee victory. However, every spell and recovery consumes part of the shared mana pool. As the battle continues, both fighters gradually run out of magical energy, leaving them to settle the confrontation through physical combat.
Magna’s toughness and experience fighting without enormous magical reserves become crucial. He continues exchanging punches with Dante even as his body takes considerable damage. Eventually, both fighters land their final blows, but Magna manages to knock Dante unconscious.

The official episode preview from Avex Pictures episode details and preview also highlighted Magna’s six-month preparation and the determination that allows him to challenge Dante.
Magna’s Latest Victory Joins Black Clover’s Most Celebrated Episodes
The 9.9 IMDb score places Episode 5 ahead of several previously celebrated Black Clover instalments, including “Black Oath” and “Julius Novachrono,” which have been associated with 9.8 ratings. “Captain Yami Sukehiro” is another highly rated episode, with a reported 9.7 score.
Magna’s victory stands out because it gives a previously overshadowed Black Bulls member the spotlight without suddenly making him the strongest Magic Knight. Instead, his success comes from recognising his limitations and developing a technique that directly counters his opponent’s greatest advantage.
The rating is also significant because it arrived with more than 11,000 votes, although IMDb scores and rankings can change as additional viewers rate an episode. The reported 9.9 score should therefore be treated as a snapshot rather than a permanent record.
Black Clover Season 2 is available on Crunchyroll. Episode 5 is listed as “The Highest vs. the Lowest” on the streaming platform.
