Black Bullet

Black Bullet is officially returning after a 12-year hiatus. KADOKAWA’s Dengeki Bunko has announced Black Bullet: New World Order, a reboot of Shiden Kanzaki’s light novel series. The new edition will begin publication in November 2026, with two books released each month simultaneously for four consecutive months.

The announcement also confirms that the project will move beyond a simple reprint. Kanzaki is revising the earlier material, and the story will eventually take a new direction. For readers who have been waiting for the series to continue, the reboot offers a fresh starting point while retaining the original work’s central premise.

A Reboot That Changes the Story’s Direction

The original Black Bullet began publication in 2011 and received a television anime adaptation in 2014. Its story is set in a near-future world where humanity has lost the fight against the parasitic creatures known as Gastrea. The series follows Rentaro Satomi, a member of the Civil Security organization, and his partner Enju Aihara as they confront dangerous missions in a world facing destruction.

The new project is not simply a continuation of the existing seven-volume series. According to Dengeki Bunko’s official announcement, the early volumes will retain the same story developments while receiving revisions, and the later books will introduce a new branch in the narrative.

That distinction is important for longtime fans. The reboot is intended to revisit the earlier material while giving the author room to take the story in a different direction. However, the announcement does not provide details about the exact changes to the plot or how the new ending will differ from the original series.

Eight Books Across Four Months

The publishing schedule will begin on November 10, 2026, with two books released together. The next pair will arrive in December, followed by another two books in January 2027 and the final pair in February 2027.

The first two volumes are titled Black Bullet: New World Order 01: Those Who Sought to Become Gods and Black Bullet: New World Order 02: VS. The Brilliant Sniper. The December releases will continue the revised story, while the January books will introduce the new branch in the narrative.

The February releases will include the completely rewritten fifth volume, split into two parts. This is where the project is expected to move into its new story direction. The exact plot details have not yet been revealed, but the announcement makes clear that the reboot will eventually go beyond the original material.
