Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam has seen a whopping 140 Million Dollar opening worldwide. The movie had been in the making for quite a lot of year now, and just as fans lost hope of it ever being released, Black Adam was announced to premiere in cinemas in America on October 21st, 2022.
The Black Adam we see in the movie is quite different from the comics, with the movie adapting an anti-hero version rather than a supervillain one. Regardless, the story does have similarities in terms of Black Adam’s origin. We see Dwayne Johnson as Teth Adam, trying to protect Khandaq as only a protector and not a hero.
What surprised the fans most was the end credit scene which no one would have seen coming. Though “The Rock” hinted about it in many interviews, as well as tweets, seeing it happen left DC fans hopeful about what could come next.
Black Adam: A Synopsis of The Movie
The movie starts in the land of Khandaq in the year 2600 BC. The corrupt king Ahk-Ton aims to be the most powerful being on the planet by creating the crown of Sabbac, which is made entirely out of Eternium. He turns all of his citizens into slaves, and when a child stands up to his tyrannous ways, he is ordered to be killed.
When the king’s soldier tries to kill him, he transports to the Rock of Eternity, where a council of wizards, including the wizard Shazam, grants him the powers to defeat the king and protect the land of Khandaq. What happens after that is a mystery until Teth Adam is awakened again by Adrianna Tomaz, an archaeologist in search of the crown of Sabbac, along with Ishmael and Karim.
Once he is awakened, Teth Adam kills the intergang soldiers, saving Adrianna and her brother Karim from harm. Being imprisoned for almost five thousand years, Teth Adam finds himself in a completely different Khandaq.
Back in America, Amanda Waller asks the Justice Society of America (JSA) to capture Khandaq’s newly awakened meta-human. She recalls the power that he once unleashed upon his land, destroying it in the process. Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher assemble on a journey to imprison or defeat Teth Adam. Upon reaching there, they find him killing members of the intergang and try to stop him but fail.
Ishmael reveals himself as an alive and well member of the intergang and captures Amon, Adrianna’s son. Ishmael is the last remaining descendant of Ahk-Ton, and being killed when the crown is in his hands would transform him into Sabbac. That’s what happens when Teth Adam tries to save Amon from a gunshot.
Not knowing that Ishmael was now Sabbac, the JSA sent Teth Adam to Task Force X, where he agreed to be submerged in a suspended state underwater. Before doing so, Teth Adam reveals that he wasn’t the person that was originally granted powers by the wizards.
It was his son Hurut. When Hurut gives the powers to his dying father to save him, he is assassinated before he can take it back. In a fit of Rage, Teth Adam destroys the land of Khandaq and is put to sleep by the wizards. This makes him believe that he isn’t the true hero that Khandaq needs.
When the JSA battles the overpowered Sabbac, Dr. Fate tries to save Hawkman from dying in exchange for his death. Before dying, he frees Teth Adam, who, along with the remaining JSA, defeats Sabbac. He agrees to live as a protector of Khandaq and use the powers of Shazam for the greater good.
What Happens in the End Credit Scene?
“We Need to Talk,” says a figure from the shadows.
Teth Adam, who now refers to himself as Black Adam, receives a message from Amanda Waller. She lets him know that now that he didn’t surrender to JSA, Khandaq will be his Prison. As soon as he steps out of it, he’ll be facing fierce superheroes sent by her.
Black Adam replies that he’s the strongest meta-human on the planet, to which Amanda replies that she’ll be sending someone much more powerful, that could be from a different planet. Adam lets her know he’s willing to fight anyone she sends and then destroys the drone displaying the message.
Just then, from the smoke emerges Superman. In his Blue and red outfit with the signature curl on his forehead. He informs Black Adam that they need to talk, to which Adam replies with a smirk.
Black Adam End Credit Scene Explained:
Though the scene is somewhat self-explanatory, it has given rise to more questions than answers regarding what fans can expect next. The fact that Superman had to be called to tame Black Adam could mean that he became a serious problem or somehow had a change of mind and decided to rule the world. Either way, there could be endless explanations, but the most popular ones are:
Henry Cavill’s Return
The scene was a sure indicator of Henry still playing the role of Superman in future sequels. This comes amid various rumors that Henry won’t be playing the role anymore. The Rock Himself admits that the producers were close to recasting Superman, but it was his ultimate wish to see a movie starring both him and Henry as DC characters, and this was what caused the producers to reconsider their decision.
Henry Cavill announces his return as Superman!

Superman was seen wearing his traditional suit instead of the one that was seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. This could mean that this scene takes place in a different time or an alternate dimension, as the multiverse theory is a part of the DC world. That would explain why Superman was working for Amanda Waller as well. Superman wears the black suit only once in the comics. That is when he’s recovering from an intense battle.
Black Adam Vs. Superman in the Future:
The probability of this happening is high, #1, due to Dwayne’s all-time wish of Black Adam and Superman in a battle, #2, It was high time that a Superman movie came out, especially since he’s only been having cameos or appearing alongside other characters since almost a decade.
We could be seeing Superman battle against Black Adam in his movie. That would be an interesting fight since both of them have almost similar strengths.
Black Adam could even have the upper hand since Superman is known to be weak against magic, But Black Adam has a weakness, too, as shown in the movie. He gets hurt when an Eternium rocket is used against him, indicating that his weakness may be somehow connected to Eternium, much similar to Superman and Kryptonite.
Then again, the Rock wants to make a longer storyline and not just a single movie. It could be that Shazam will try to battle against Black Adam first since he is his actual nemesis, and that would lead to Black Adam and Superman facing off in the long run.
Nonetheless, Seeing Superman return to a DC movie, with Henry Cavill playing the role, had been a dream of many, and coupled with Black Adam’s cinematic battles and storyline, it was a cherry on the cake.
