U.S. President Joe Biden‘s reelection campaign has achieved remarkable success in fundraising, announcing an impressive haul of over $187 million in the first quarter of 2024.
This figure nearly doubles the amount raised in the previous quarter, highlighting the campaign’s financial momentum.
In March alone, the campaign experienced a surge in donations, particularly following Biden’s nomination by the Democratic Party, raising over $90 million compared to the previous month’s $53 million.
Key fundraising events, such as a star-studded fundraiser in New York City featuring former Democratic Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, significantly contributed to the campaign’s success.
This event alone raised more than $25 million, showcasing the robust support for Biden among Democratic stalwarts.
The campaign emphasizes the diversity of its donor base, with 96% of contributions being under $200. Over 1.1 million donors made a total of 1.9 million contributions, reflecting broad grassroots support for Biden’s reelection bid.
The campaign boasts over 212,000 sustaining donors, more than double the amount at a similar point in the 2020 election cycle.
Strategically, the campaign plans to allocate $30 million toward a six-week paid media campaign in important battleground states.
This includes targeted advertising aimed at Latino, Black, Asian American, and Pacific Islander voters, as well as supporters of Nikki Haley, who withdrew her challenge to Donald Trump for the Republican nomination in March.
Biden’s reelection efforts have been extensive, with visits to every battleground state in less than 20 days and numerous campaign events attended by surrogates in March. This concerted effort underscores the campaign’s commitment to securing victory in the upcoming election.
