Gilles requested that Lord Weiss assist him with procuring employment. Lord Weiss felt like he fell right into Gilles’s trap.
Gilles knew that if Duke Thisse learned about the matter, he believed that it would lead to trouble. Gilles knew the truth about the murder, so he drove him somewhere he couldn’t keep an eye on him.
Lord Weiss made up his mind to keep Gilles close to him. Lord Weiss told Gilles that the offer still stood and asked him to join him. Chloe wrote to her father for the first time in a while; she had been receiving letters from a post office in the south.
So she wrote a letter there as well, hoping that even though she didn’t have a precise address, the letter would reach Alice. Chloe realized that the place around her was extremely beautiful, and it felt completely different since spring had arrived.
When Chloe first arrived there, the winter seemed unending, and she never imagined that she could grow to love that place. But she felt as comfortable there as she did back in Verdier.

Damian arrived at the location and joined Chloe for the afternoon. Chloe was very surprised since Damian had told her he was occupied with work.
Damian informed Chloe that he concluded his meeting earlier and decided to meet her at the location because he could not allow his business to keep him away from his wife.
When Chloe was out on her own, her face went red after hearing his explanation. Damian teased her about the same thing, but Chloe dismissed it and told him her face was red because it was a warm day. Damian was curious about what Chloe was carrying in her arms, but she tried to convince him that it was nothing important.
Chloe did not want Damian to ever see it because those were his stamps. Chloe informed Damian they were just stamps with the images of strawberries. Because she found them quite charming, Chloe explained to Damian that the stamps were designed to mark the summer solstice.
So, as the duchess, it was expected of her to take an interest in such a matter. But Damian did not believe that it was true, so he snatched the envelope from her hand.
Chloe tried to take it back from him, but Damian told her he could not suppress his curiosity since she was acting very suspiciously.
The stamps fell into the fountain, and Chloe was very upset because it was the last stamp set. Meanwhile, Damian was enjoying the moment by teasing Chloe.
He decided to retrieve the stamps for Chloe because she looked too disappointed. However, Chloe told him it was too late and mentioned that she was forced to buy those stamps. Damian got back the stamps for her, but Chloe told him he should get out of there because he got himself wet.
All the people were watching them, and Damian told her he was delighted that even though his wife saw his face every day, she still purchased the stamps featuring his face, so that was the least he could do for her.
