BTS ARMY and the other Kpop fans recently celebrated BTS Suga’s birthday on March 9. The BTS rapper, producer, and probably the quietest member likes to spit fire when performing on the stage. However, Suga (Min Yoongi) is also known for her deep and wise lyrics, which he pens for most BTS songs. Due to his own past experiences and hurdles, Yoongi likes to transform them into beautiful songs. Many BTS fans admire Yoongi for his assertive demeanor and inspiration to become like him, vulnerable yet triumphant. Hence, to honor the birthday boy and ARMYs “Lil meow meow,” we will look at some of the best BTS songs and lyrics written by Suga.
Min Yoongi, also known as Suga to the world and BTS ARMY, is one of the members of the biggest boy bands in the world. Born in Daegu, South Korea, Suga became a trainee at the mere age of 17 and began composing songs. However, Bighit CEO Bang Si Hyuk had different plans for the young Daegu lad. Suga initially signed as a producer, but Bang Si Hyuk wanted him to debut as a Kpop idol, which he did.
Before starting his life as a Kpop idol, Yoongi was famous among the underground rap society. Hence, after debuting in 2013, he was looked down on for changing his goals. The now 29-year-old successful producer mentions his struggles, hardships, and victory in his lyrics. It is one of the reasons why you should check out the Best songs / Lyrics written by BTS Suga.
The [original] Korean lyrics are translated into English mentioned below.
Agust D
Without mentioning Agust D on the top, we cannot begin the “Best Suga written Lyrics/ Songs” list. Agust D is Suga’s other name or alter ego, which he uses for his solo mixtapes. The lead single Agust D from the mixtape of the same name is one of his biggest hits, reflecting his victory as a rapper and how he is not just a Kpop idol.
In Agust D, Suga raps about the impeccable rapping skills that he has achieved due to hard work. He sings:
“Some think it was easy for me to reach my position
F**k you I’m the thorn in the eyes of those hyungs
Who have no chances of becoming successful
Honestly, “SSaihanuwar” is embarrassing
We sell 500,000 copies a year
My size is different to fit in the K-pop category, whoo”
He sings about being more than a Kpop idol in the above verse. Many people deem him to be like other Kpop idols. However, Suga believes he is bigger than the Kpop misconceptions society. Furthermore, Agust D mentions the word ‘Tongue Technology,’ meaning his rapping speed and skills. This would later become an iconic statement among the Kpop community.
The Last
The Last is another deep and emotional song written by BTS Suga. It features on his first mixtape Agust D and primarily talks about his depression and OCD. Suga begins the song and says:
“On the other side of the famous idol rapper
Stands my weak self, it’s a bit dangerous
Depression, OCD”
With sentimental lyrics, The Last is one of the most personal songs written by Suga for his EP. Through the song, Suga explains his different self and feels separated from reality. In South Kore, people suffering from OCD and mental illness restrain from taking medical help and is rarely discussed in society. In the song, Suga as Agust D pinpoints a situation of a well-known rapper who suffers from anxiety and depression, with the thought of changing netizens’ views in the country.

Magic Shop
Magic Shop from BTS’s Love Yourself: Tear is one of the most beloved songs by BTS fans. It truly deserves to be on the list of best songs ever written by Suga due to multiple reasons. However, it is written by Suga and RM, Adora, Jhope, Jungkook, and more.
Anyway, why is Magic Shop special? There would be uncountable answers if we were to ask this from ARMY. So, to shorten it, Magic Shop is written to tell the BTS fans that whenever they feel low, they should look into their hearts, and they will be teleported to a “Magic Shop.” In this Magic Shop, the fans can exchange their fears with love, which BTS members have for them.
Towards the end of the song, all the seven members croon:
“You gave me the best of me
So you’ll give you the best of you
You found me, you knew me
You gave me the best of me
So you’ll give you the best of you
You’ll find it, the galaxy inside you”
The comforting song is inspired by James Doty’s autobiography, Into the Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon’s Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart.

Daechwita
Daechwita from Suga’s second solo mixtape Agust D- D2 is another one of his hit songs. Like Agust D, Daechwita also showcases Suga’s impressive tongue technology. The Korean rapper generates a different aura as the song references traditional Korean military music. Moreover, the Music video is performed in a true military arrangement with him wearing and marching like a true military person.
Daechwita, according to Suga, is a sort of “trap” for his haters. Without a doubt, Suga enjoys his freedom of expression while making music as Agust D. Hence, while making his solo tapes, he often talks about his personal pain or triumphs.
While singing Daechwita, he says:
“Yeah uh, born a slave but now a king
Berserk tiger Gwanghae flow
Born in a ditch but rise up a dragon”
Before his debut, Suga worked part-time jobs to follow his dream of making music. Since he was born in a low-income household, he often sacrificed his dreams. Therefore, he dubs himself as a king in the track, who transforms himself into a dragon. Further in the song, Suga mentions that time may be money, but his time is worth more.
The wind and percussion instruments used in the track are top-notch. Moreover, Suga’s rap flow is another charm of Daechwita, with BTS members Jin and Jungkook making a cameo in the MV. Hence, we could not miss Daechwita on the best songs and lyrics written by Suga list.

Whalien 52
Whalien 52 is another BTS masterpiece, emotion-wise and lyrics-wise. Also, it is added to the list since Suga contributed as one of the song’s writers. Whalien 52 is not your regular song; it is filled with metaphors and pinpoints towards the loneliness one feels while growing up. Additionally, Whalien 52 tells the story of the inability to be understood by others during the life journey.
The song is subject to the 52-Hertz whale, which cannot communicate with other whales due to its high-frequency pitch. Furthermore, the “alien” in “Whalien 52” focuses on someone being called alien due to their strange characteristics.
In the first verse of Whalien 52, Suga raps:
“The fact that no matter how much they shout, it won’t reach
It makes them so gravely lonely that they quietly shut their mouths
Of course, I don’t care what’s the matter or what I’ve now become
When loneliness is the only thing that stays by my side.”
He mentions how people perceive him as someone else because he is now a celebrity. Therefore, nobody understands the real him while he tries to open up.
Suga’s Wise Words For His Fans
Min Yoongi or Suga is mainly perceived as a cold, quiet, and reserved person. But, most of the time, the rapper and producer share comforting and wise advice with the fans. Once while greeting his fans, Suga told them not to feel bad if they don’t have a dream. He further said that everything would work out in life even though one does not have a plan or goal.
Suga is one of the most caring Hyung (older brother) since he is the second oldest in the septet. He often encourages the other members and pushes them to do better. Hence, his philosophy is often reflected in his music and lyrics.
