Best Buy has announced midnight openings at select stores across the United States for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on November 5, 2026. The retailer is also preparing another limited supply of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 console and matching Switch 2 Pro Controller, offering another chance for fans who missed their initial preorder window.
Best Buy has added a countdown to the game’s release on its website. However, the retailer has not confirmed which locations will participate or how many consoles and controllers will be available. Stock is expected to be limited, and store hours may vary by region.
BEST BUY OFFERS ANOTHER CHANCE TO BUY ZELDA ANNIVERSARY HARDWARE
The limited-edition Switch 2 console and Pro Controller were revealed during Nintendo’s Zelda 40th Anniversary presentation in September. The products were available for preorder in the United States but sold out quickly at major retailers.
The anniversary hardware is scheduled to become available on October 29, ahead of the game’s November 5 launch. Fans planning to attend a midnight opening should check with their local Best Buy before travelling, as availability is not guaranteed.
Customers who already have a preorder for Ocarina of Time with shipping selected can reportedly change their order to store pickup through the purchase history section of their Best Buy account.

According to Best Buy’s official announcement, nearly all US stores will open for the launch, with opening times adjusted by time zone. The event begins at midnight Eastern Time on November 5, which means some stores will open during the evening of November 4 in their local time zones. Customers can use Best Buy’s store locator to check their location’s participation.
Nintendo has confirmed that the Ocarina of Time remake will feature overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, orchestral music, and updated camera and movement controls. The game is a remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic and launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
The game is listed at $69.99 at Best Buy, while the original report noted lower preorder prices at Amazon and Walmart. Fans interested in the anniversary hardware should also remember that the console and controller launch on October 29, before the game itself arrives.
