Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have seen a notable boost in player activity following the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 4. The latest update introduces Tsuru Reef, a new large-scale multiplayer map featuring naval combat, new weapons, and fresh gameplay additions. While early community reactions to the map’s open design have been mixed, the update has successfully drawn players back to the game, resulting in its highest Steam player count in five months.

According to SteamDB, Battlefield 6 reached 81,745 concurrent players following the Season 4 launch, marking its strongest performance since February. Twitch also experienced renewed interest, with peak viewership climbing to around 51,500, indicating that players and content creators alike are eager to explore the latest content.

Season 4 update reignites player interest

The centerpiece of Season 4 is Tsuru Reef, a visually striking battlefield that expands the game’s emphasis on combined-arms warfare. The map introduces large naval engagements alongside infantry and vehicle combat, encouraging players to experiment with new tactical approaches.

Although some players have praised the map’s scale and visuals, others have questioned whether its open layout favors long-range engagements over close-quarters action. Even so, discussion surrounding the update has remained largely positive, with many welcoming the fresh content after months of declining player activity.

EA has also confirmed that more content is planned throughout the season, including the return of the fan-favorite Wake Island map later in the update cycle.

The strong launch suggests Battlefield 6’s latest season has succeeded in bringing both returning veterans and curious newcomers back to the battlefield. Whether the renewed momentum continues will likely depend on future seasonal content and the reception to Wake Island’s highly anticipated return.
