Netflix released a fresh trailer for “Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre Season 2,” the anime adaptation of Keisuke Itagaki’s manga “Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre.” The trailer gives us a peak into the upcoming “The Father VS Son Saga,” the anime’s anticipated second half, introducing new cast members.
Also, the preview features the opening track “Sarracenia” by SKY-HI and the ending theme “Salvia” by BE:FIRST for the show’s latter half. Following its second season launch with the “Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga” on July 26, the “The Father VS Son Saga” is set to premiere on August 24.
At its core, “Baki” follows Baki, the protagonist, as he lives in a world where every strong man wants to fight him. But this isn’t your average coming-of-age story (since he’s a high schooler). Baki’s journey isn’t about discovering his true potential or other shounen clichés, it’s about becoming the strongest so he can defeat his father, Yujiro Hanma, or The Ogre.
From its animation that captures every detail, every rippling muscle and sweat-soaked brow, to its pulse-pounding soundtrack that fuels the adrenaline-fueled frenzy of fighting, “Baki” isn’t just a show, it’s truly an experience.

Son of Ogre S2 Part 2 Release Date
The Son of Ogre Season 2 was released in two parts; the first part, “Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga,” premiered on July 26, and the second part, which will tell the story of “The Father VS Son Saga,” will debut on August 24 of this year.
The newly announced cast includes Megumi Hayashibara voicing Emi Akezawa, Hidekatsu Shibata voicing Yūichirō Hanma, and Fumihiko Tachiki voicing Kaiser. Character roles are unknown.
The first part of season 2 followed a primitive-age man, Pickle. He was revived and found himself in modern-day Tokyo. Claimed to be a “national treasure,” Pickle spent most of his time in some kind of confinement, his food being the opponents he defeats. Quite literally.
From the unbeatable Sea King Retsu to the steroids-doped Jack Hanma, everyone wanted a taste of Pickle. Though it would’ve been great to witness a fight between today’s strongest, Yujiro, and decades-old strongest, Pickle, we were not treated to that. However, we expect the “Father vs Son” saga to be the best season and part of Baki yet.
A Review of Son of Ogre Part 1
If you haven’t already watched the first half, what are you waiting for? In my opinion, this was the most outrageous part yet. However, I don’t mean outrageous in a bad way. We all know how illogical “Baki” can get and this half included the most nonsensical things. Just take the very plot of part 1. A primitive age man preserved in ice? For hundreds of years?
That being said, I binged the entire 13 episodes in one sitting. The excitement I got from seeing Baki, Retsu, Captain Strydum, and other previously introduced characters was unmatchable. Undoubtedly, you can only fully enjoy this season if you’ve watched the previous seasons, as Son of Ogre is not the ideal starter for “Baki.”
Part 1 is primarily focused on fights between Pickle and other characters, namely Retsu, Katsumi Doppo, Jack Hanma, and last but not least, Baki Hanma himself. Here we see Baki suffer a defeat but an honorable defeat.
If you’re searching for a series like “Baki” but also wish to have a plot, then “Baki” isn’t the best option for you. It doesn’t have a laid-down plot but rather an “I want to defeat my father and fight other strong men” foundation on which almost 4 seasons or parts of the show are based. As mentioned earlier, if you desire a story and character development, then give Kengan Ashura a try.
