Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is getting physical releases for both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch, with publisher PM Studios officially opening pre-orders for both editions. The announcement gives fans another way to secure the upcoming 2D fighter inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, while also confirming an important detail for Switch 2 collectors.

According to the game’s official product listing, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition will ship on a full game cartridge, rather than using Nintendo’s Game-Key Card format. Players will be able to choose between a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition, the latter including additional digital content alongside the base game.

Deluxe Edition includes Year 1 Pass and digital extras

The Deluxe Edition bundles the Year 1 Pass, which adds five post-launch fighters over the course of the first season. Confirmed characters include Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, and Bolin, while the fifth DLC fighter will be selected through the Year 1 Character Vote.

Players will also receive a digital soundtrack featuring the game’s music and a digital art book showcasing character illustrations, stages, and other hand-drawn artwork inspired by the Avatar universe.

Developed by Maximum Entertainment, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game features 12 playable characters from across the Avatar franchise, brought to life through hand-drawn 2D animation that stays faithful to the animated series.

The game includes a variety of single-player and multiplayer modes, including Story, Arcade, Offline and Online Versus, Training, Spectator Mode, and an Art Gallery celebrating the history of the franchise.

Competitive players can also expect rollback netcode and cross-platform multiplayer, alongside ranked and casual matchmaking, spectator support, replays, and detailed training tools such as frame data, hitbox visualization, and save states.

PM Studios has confirmed that physical pre-orders are now open, giving fans the opportunity to secure either edition ahead of the game’s launch.
