Attack on Titan is a very popular Japanese anime series. Adapted from the Attack on Titan manga series by Hajime Isayama. The series aired from April 7, 2013, till November 5, 2023, with 4 seasons.
This anime recently released its finale episode ending the whole anime series. And it really shook its fans, even for those who have already read the manga. While Attack on Titan added an extra episode to the TV series, in the story’s ending.
They also showed the afterlife of Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, and their friends. That is how the cycle of war, discrimination, and rebirth would still continue very long after that.
But there is news on the internet that says Netflix is making a different version of Attack on Titan. Removing the extended episode added to the TV series of AoT. We will see why Netflix might have done so, and also what happened in the final episodes of AoT.
Attack on Titan Final Season Scene Cut By Netflix
A post from Attack on Titan Reddit says that “ Episodic Cuts of Part 3 finally came out on Netflix and they removed the ending…”. The ending of AoT shows Mikasa Ackerman standing in front of a tree saying Thank you and then ‘ The End’ screen shows up. Netflix says that it is not the original ending and it does not show the entire Linked Horizon part.
Those who have read manga know that the finale of Attack on Titan shows a montage of Paradis Island’s Landscape on the death site of Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman on the hillside.
After many years pass by Paradis civilse into a modern and futuristic World. But again the cycle of war, hate, and discrimination repeats in the modern world, resulting in the destruction of it by nuclear weapons and once again bringing humanity back to its feet.
In the final scene, it shows a dog and child walking into a deep forest only to find a very huge tree with an opening greeting them. However, Netflix removed it and divided the final episode into several parts just like normal episodes.
The ending which shows a hundred years into the future is removed. Only showing Mikasa expressing gratitude towards Eren by wrapping her scarf around her neck just like Eren did.
The original manga ending was also short which also showed Mikasa’s gratitude towards Eren in the same manner.
Why Netflix Removed a Scene from Attack on Titan Final Season
The reason I think Netflix is removing the extended cut is maybe they wanted to stick to the original manga series story. They are also trying to keep it different from the TV series so that they can get people to watch their Attack on Titan.
Because they released it a little too late in the market. It is also possible that it was not Netflix but studio MAPPA’s decision to make these changes.
While Crunchyroll and Hulu are streaming the extended cut of Attack on Titan Anime if you want to watch the extended version. Attack on Titan is not currently available to stream on Netflix at the time I am writing this Article. Soon they will release it to stream worldwide.
