It is a sad day indeed as popular soap opera star Kathryn Hays has passed away. She was 88 years old. The cause of death has not been revealed yet. The actress was widely known for her role as Kim Sullivan Hughes in As the World Turns.
She portrayed the fan’s favorite role for decades, and it was an absolute delight to see her on television. Believe it or not, Kathryn played the iconic role for 38 long years. The daytime staple went off the air in 2010 following a 54-year run on air.

Kathryn Hays also starred in one of the Season 3 episodes of “Star Trek. It was a treat for sci-fi lovers as the actress made a guest appearance on “Star Trek” back in 1968. She portrayed the role of the titular mute hero, Gem, in The Empath. Her co-star, Don Hastings, who played the role of her on-screen husband Bob Hughes, said his heartfelt tribute to the actress, stating that it is a huge loss to all who knew her. Kathryn Hays kickstarted her career with television roles during the early 1960s. These shows include the Westerns “Bonanza” and “Route 66,” other than that, she starred in the spy series “The Man from U.N.C.L.E” and several other shows. She went in to star in the television film “Yuma” back in 1971. However, Hays landed her breakout role came in the 1966 pre-Civil War era, The Road West. Hays played the role of Elizabeth Reynolds for all the 29 episodes of the show’s successful run.
It was just a few years later Kathryn Hays became a household name after she bagged the iconic role of Kim in As The World Turns, and the rest is history. Fans saw her make a cameo appearance in a 2007 Episode of Law & Order: SVU. Apart from her successful television career, the actress had a thriving career on Broadway as well. These Broadway plays include Ladybug, Ladybug, The Irregular Verb to Love, and Hot September.
