Alongside details of Miss Velaz’s growing friendship with Milton’s family, Milton notes, “Lydia’s made my parents so soft, so different from what we grew up with.” Milton still doesn’t do the dishes, but he has become better at picking his towels up off the floor.
Yes! The duo confirms that they are still happily married over a year and a half after the wedding was filmed in summer 2022 at the reunion. Now, let’s get to know more about Milton and Lydia.
Who is Milton?
James Milton Johnson IV is a Honolulu native of Hawaii, born on October 5, (1997) and raised with his two sisters, Jamie Johnson and Jessica Renee.
He is about 25 years old now and has lived in Japan for a very long time before setting out a career in petroleum engineering, where he is a Management Trainee at Vopak currently.
After graduating from the University of Houston College System with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geotechnology, before furthering to getting a Master of Science in Systems Engineering bagged at the University of Texas at El Paso.
The star from the ‘Love is Blind’ series at the moment is in the process of getting a Master of Business Administration degree at Rice University.
It will be interesting to note that Sir James Milton enjoys trekking, which has become a hobby, and is often seen traveling alone. Camping and learning about natural science, in addition to athletics, are other favorites of his.
How Did He Meet Lydia?
During the seasonal episode, ‘Love is Blind.’ Lydia Velaz Gonzalez and James “Milton” Johnson IV first met while looking at pebbles.
Lydia Arleen Vélez González is a native of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, and a geology graduate of the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus, an environmental management graduate of the University of Maryland Global Campus.
She now works as a project geologist at Roux and resides in Houston, Texas. Miss Velaz stars in Season 5 of Love Is Blind on Netflix. The 30-year-old, who’s now indifferent about the age difference between herself and fiancé Milton, is hell-bent on loving.
It was perceived that age was an early stumbling block in their relationship, with Lydia originally questioning if she could date someone younger. Gasping on their first date, “You’re younger than my brother,” when James IV revealed he was 24 years old.
It didn’t seem to matter much, though, because Lydia is now engaged to Milton. She is now believed to be 32 years old. The geologist has two degrees from Puerto Rico that she got before moving to the United States.
The duo originally clicked during the first episode when they bonded over their love of rocks. Lydia, on the other hand, was interested in continuing things with Izzy before he opted to cut things off in order to focus his energies on Stacey and Johnie.
Lydia was entirely focused on Milton after Izzy’s rejection, and things were fine not until she confessed she had an ex who’s a fellow competitor, Uche, before embarking on the experiment.
Milton was taken aback by her confession which needed time to process what had happened. He forgave Lydia for not telling him at first, and the duo engaged, with Milton proposing at the end of episode four.
Milton and Lydia’s Love Heading
The geologist and the petroleum engineer, who are early standouts in the latest chapter of the reality phenomenon, first hit it off because of their similar interest in her field, the geo world, as they get to know each other through a blue pod wall.
While their road to marriage is not without bumps, Lydia and Milton are one of three blissfully engaged couples by the end of this season’s first weekly release.
She also discussed how her relationship with Milton’s family has improved after Season 5 of Love Is Blind wrapped. “They are my pillars of support.” They are the only people that are always there for me, apart from my own family.
His mother has become my second mother. We were on the phone for an hour and a half the other day, and I was like, “Oh my god, this is a lot,” and she was just there to encourage me.
“They’re like family to me.” I never had any issues about meeting them. I never received that sense or thought that way. ‘I really admire each one of them for just who they are.” She giggled while stating, ‘They’re literally calling me right now like, Lydia, who do we have to fight?’
‘Now? They’re all mine: My father-in-law, my mother-in-law, and even my sister-in-law.’ I even have a name I call my father-in-law, ‘Pops,’ she said with so much excitement.
