Na Jae Min or Jaemin, the South Korean Rapper, singer, and dancer, came into the spotlight with dating rumors with his “Way to Dislike You” co-star Kim Ji In in 2020. Jaemin, born on August 13, 2000, in Seoul, South Korea, is a member of the boy band NCT. Due to NCT’s huge fanbase, netizens are keen to know about the members’ dating lives. Kim Ji In is a 26-year-old, South Korean actress known for her roles in popular K-dramas like Memorist (2020), Extraordinary You (2019), Lady Cha Dal-Rae’s Lover (2018), Hyena (2020) and So Not Worth It (2021).
Both, Jaemin and Kim Ji In appeared in the series “Way to Dislike You” together as lovers. The audience reacted favorably to their chemistry in their show, and since then, people have come to believe that they could be dating in real life. A year after they worked together, rumors of the two datings began to circulate via anonymous accounts on social media, including Twitter and the Korean online community Pann, along with “evidence” of their relationship status.
What got most people talking about the two was something that happened back in 2020. Netizens noticed something intriguing in the actress’s Instagram story on April 29, 2020.
Jaemin and Kim Ji In Dating Rumours
Actress Kim Ji In celebrated the launch of the Netflix original K-drama series “Extracurricular” in an Instagram story post. At the time, she had worked in the series along with the actor Kim Gyu Tae, to whom she had given a shoutout through this post. What she did not see coming was that some overly observant netizens found evidence, through the story, that Jaemin and Kim Ji In are perhaps dating.
She showed a screenshot of Netflix’s home page and the “Extracurricular” movie poster in her story. Additionally, she commented, “Go big!” and tagged Kim Gyu Tae’s Instagram account.
The bottom of the image, which is highlighted below, is the part of the Instagram story that sparked controversy. Although the bottom part of the word was partially hidden, many people online thought the text said “Top Picks for Na Jae Min.”
Netizens assume that the account presumably belonged to NCT’s Jaemin since they were co-stars of the 2019 online drama Way to Dislike You. This led to some netizens spreading “evidence” that Kim Ji In and Jaemin were dating through online communities and SNS platforms after the initial dating rumors had subsided, which generated controversy among fans.
Due to this, internet users immediately made the assumption that the two artists were using the same Netflix account, raising the potential of a relationship between them that goes beyond their co-starring role in the online drama. While some thought it might just be a “sharing of the account,” others were adamant that an idol wouldn’t share his Netflix account with an actress unless they were a couple.
The netizens grew even more suspicious when the story got removed unexpectedly, believing that the two were indeed together.
When they were seen wearing identical rings, the romance rumors surrounding Jaemin and Kim Ji In intensified. The rings are UNICEF rings, and SM Entertainment dismissed the relationship allegations at the time, insisting that they were only good friends.
Netizens also started noticing that Jaemin frequently uses the emoji of a bunny. Many people believed that the bunny emoji indicates the bunny-like teeth of Kim Ji In.
One of Kim Ji In’s friends tagged her in a post of a bicycle that said, “A good day to ride,” which netizens believed to be indicating the title of NCT’s hit at the time, Riding. Since then, netizens have been accumulating “proof” that the pair are dating through thorough online inspection, and the internet is torn between the ones who believe that the two are just friends and the others who firmly believe that the two are in a relationship.
Are Jaemin and Kim Ji In Actually Dating?
Although netizens are very good at spy work, the rumors remain to be just rumors. Neither Kim Ji In nor Jaemin have addressed the dating rumors. SM Entertainment denied the rumor. However, other individuals insisted that NCT Jaemin and Kim Ji In are actually dating despite their denial. Nevertheless, they made the conscious decision to cease discussing Jaemin’s relationship out of loyalty to the idol and out of respect for the stars’ privacy.
