ARC Raiders PvE Mode Test Confirmed for October 13

ARC Raiders is preparing for one of its biggest gameplay experiments yet. Embark Studios has confirmed that it will test a PvE matchmaking toggle from October 13 through October 20, 2026, allowing players to choose between the extraction adventure’s established PvPvE format and a dedicated PvE experience focused on cooperation against ARC machines.

The limited test comes after Embark noticed that a growing portion of the ARC Raiders community prefers scavenging, questing, and fighting ARC rather than engaging other Raiders. The studio says the decision is based on player feedback, gameplay data, and its own observations of how the community has evolved since launch.

The experiment is particularly notable because ARC Raiders was not originally conceived as a PvPvE extraction game. Embark initially planned a cooperative PvE looting experience before resetting the project and rebuilding it around the high-tension PvPvE formula that players know today.

ARC Raiders PvE Toggle Test Begins October 13

During the October 13-20 PvE matchmaking test, players will be able to switch between the standard ARC Raiders PvPvE experience and the new PvE option. PvE sessions will completely disable player-to-player damage, shifting the focus toward exploring the Rust Belt, completing quests, gathering loot, and cooperating against ARC threats.

ARC Raiders gameplay showcases the game’s extraction-focused combat and cooperative encounters with ARC machines.

The PvE matchmaking test will support Solos, Duos, and Trios in the same session. Embark also wants switching between the two experiences to feel seamless, meaning players can enjoy a more relaxed solo PvE run before returning to PvPvE for a higher-stakes match.

However, not every map condition will be available during the experiment. Night Raids, Hidden Bunker, Locked Gate, and Frigate are being excluded because Embark designed these conditions around heightened tension and the uncertainty created by encounters with other players.

Importantly, playing PvE will not affect a player’s PvPvE matchmaking rating. Once the test ends, the temporary toggle will be removed and matchmaking will return to its normal format.
