ARC Raiders Producer Says Frozen Trail Will Add Repeatable Endgame Activities as Embark Plans Long-Term PvP Rewards

Aleksander Grøndal says Embark is working on multiple solutions for ARC Raiders’ endgame, with Frozen Trail adding repeatable activities while future updates will provide more incentives for PvP.

ARC Raiders is set to receive its biggest content update since launch with Frozen Trail, and Embark Studios is also acknowledging one of the game’s biggest ongoing issues: keeping experienced players engaged after they have exhausted much of the existing endgame content.

In an interview ahead of the update, Aleksander Grøndal, executive producer at Embark Studios, confirmed that Frozen Trail will introduce new repeatable activities while the studio continues working on longer-term solutions. Grøndal explained that the team does not view the problem as something that can be solved with one feature because different players want different reasons to keep returning.

“Frozen Trail will bring some new things to do, repeatable activities that they can do and challenge themselves in completely new ways,”

Grøndal told Polygon.

Frozen Trail Will Only Be the First Step for ARC Raiders’ Endgame

The upcoming update arrives as ARC Raiders continues to build on its extraction-shooter foundation. Players can already take on major threats such as the Queen and Matriarch, while Trials and Expeditions provide additional objectives for those looking for more structured challenges.

However, once experienced players become comfortable with these activities, the number of meaningful long-term goals can become more limited. PvP provides another source of replayability, but the game’s aggression-based matchmaking and concerns around cheating can make repeatedly seeking player-versus-player encounters less appealing for some Raiders.

Grøndal said Embark is aware that the community has different expectations for the endgame. Some players are satisfied with existing activities such as Trials and Expeditions, while others need stronger incentives to continue playing.

The studio is therefore looking beyond a single catch-all solution. Grøndal said Frozen Trail “will take a step in that direction,” while confirming that the studio has longer-term plans to continue addressing the issue through future updates. (Polygon)

One area receiving particular attention is PvP. According to Grøndal, some players do not feel there are enough rewards for fighting other Raiders beyond the enjoyment of PvP itself. The studio wants to address that by creating additional incentives while developing different solutions for different types of players.

Frozen Trail is scheduled to launch on October 8, 2026. Embark‘s official announcement describes it as the studio’s biggest update since launch, adding a new map, a new ARC Operation, a new ARC, the Outpost, and changes to progression systems.

With the update arriving soon, the bigger test will be whether these additions can give veteran Raiders meaningful reasons to keep returning after they have mastered the existing content. The studio has already indicated that Frozen Trail is not intended to be the final answer, suggesting that the game’s endgame will continue evolving beyond the October update.
