Arc Raiders will add a new camera mode as part of its upcoming October update, giving players a way to capture moments from their raids across the Rust Belt. However, the announcement has received a mixed response from parts of the community, with some fans arguing that ongoing gameplay issues should take priority over a photo-focused feature.

Embark Studios teased the new addition through the official Arc Raiders social media account, telling players,

“Time to remember your raids, cameras are coming to the Rust Belt in October.”

The camera will arrive as part of the game’s next major content update, which has been described by the developer as its biggest since launch.

Camera Mode Arrives as Players Continue to Raise Concerns

The reaction to the announcement has highlighted continuing frustration among some Arc Raiders players. One user complained about a long-running hotkey problem, writing,

“Using number keys as a heal bind still been bugged since near launch, like if my items key is 3 for example and I try to hold to select heal it does not work, I have to tap it, but if I set it to the letter B I can hold and select… Many many other bugs, and Chester problem but sure, let’s add a fucking camera!”

Another player questioned whether the October update would deliver enough meaningful changes, saying,

“I was wondering if we will get any Frozen Trail news for ARC Raiders during ONL.
We did not.
Today we had the first reveal for October… cameras!
Like… Seriously?

We finally need proof that we can believe what we have been promised, not just some gimmick to string us along.”

The criticism comes as Embark has already acknowledged that the game’s larger systems require further attention. The studio announced in its official development update that it is moving away from monthly major updates and toward two larger updates per year, allowing more development time for progression, economy balancing, fair play, and anti-cheat improvements.

Embark has also confirmed that the Frozen Trail update will arrive on October 8, 2026. The major expansion will introduce a new map, new ARC threats, additional progression changes, and a high-level challenge designed to test experienced players. The developer has said nearly every part of the game has benefited from lessons learned over recent months.

For Embark, the camera mode is only a small part of a much larger update. However, the divided response shows that Arc Raiders fans are looking for stronger evidence that persistent gameplay problems and cheating concerns will receive the attention they believe they deserve.
