K-Pop girl groups are known for their Cutesy Gestures and Pinkish Bubblegum concept with pleasing aesthetics and upbeat, cheery music. Apink is one such group that ranks high among all the cheery concepts out there in the South Korean Pop world.
It has made its own space in the raging Hallyu wave of Korean culture with its addictive hook in songs like ‘NoNoNo’ and ‘My My.’ Yet it is the personalities of its members that emanate the innocence of Maiden’s first love vibes the most. These members personalities led to the development of the Sub-unit Apink Y.O.S.
Hilarious Pranks, Athletic Meets, or Sugary Aegyo Display! We all love our K-Pop Idols for their cutesy crazy ways of showcasing their social group activities. But what if these cutesy crazy ways turn into a creative endeavor? Apink Y.O.S is the outcome of one such crazy prank. A group that was formed as a result of an April Fool’s Day Joke is a South Korean Sub-Unit of the Korean Girl Group Apink.
Debut
Although Apink Y.O.S does not officially exist, the members acknowledged its presence in the JTBC’s Variety Show Idol Room in 2018.
The episode aired a clip where the group members Yoon Bo-mi, Oh Ha-young, and Son Na-Eun, as a prank, introduced themselves as Apink Y.O.S confusing everyone in Korea. Yoon Bo-mi admitted that even her mother got deceived as she waited for Y.O.S to perform.
However, In 2020 the group released the Music video ‘Love is Blind’ under the name Y.O.S. The concept of the Sub-Unit is the same as that of the original parent group Apink with an innocent and pure bubblegum image. Apink also has another Sub-Unit, Apink BnN, consisting of Kim Nam-Joo and Yoon Bo-mi.
