Streaming has truly revolutionized the anime scene, making it more accessible worldwide. Once a niche interest outside of Japan, anime now enjoys immense popularity, thanks in no small part to platforms like Crunchyroll. However, recent news from HIDIVE suggests that enjoying your favorite anime might come with a slightly higher price tag.
In an announcement posted on their website and sent out via email, HIDIVE informed users of an upcoming subscription price increase. The bump isn’t significant, just a dollar more, but it’s a noteworthy change nonetheless.
“We wanted to let you know about upcoming changes to your subscription. In order to continue delivering the best dubs, subs, simulcasts, uncut anime, and more, we are changing the price of HIDIVE subscriptions. As an existing subscriber, your new rate of $5.99/month (plus applicable taxes) will be reflected on your next billing cycle on or after April 29, 2024. Thank you for being a valued HIDIVE subscriber, we appreciate the opportunity to bring you the best anime content and viewing experience,” the email reads.
As indicated, HIDIVE is increasing its subscription fee, but the uptick is quite modest. Fortunately, it’s still one of the more affordable options available. For comparison, Crunchyroll offers different subscription tiers ranging from $7.99 to $14.99 per month.
Meanwhile, platforms like Netflix start at $6.99 with ads, and others like Disney+ and Hulu come bundled at a higher cost. So, all things considered,
HIDIVE remains a solid choice, especially with its exclusive titles like “Oshi No Ko” season two recently confirmed for streaming. Additionally, the service boasts a plethora of other hits to enjoy, such as “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night.”
