Orient is a relatively new Anime released on 6th January 2022. The anime is produced by A.C.G.T studio. It’s based on the manga series illustrated by Shinobu Ohtaka. From 2018 to 2021, it was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine. In February 2021, It was transferred to Bessatsu Shōnen. There are several new anime releasing in 2022, and Orient is one of the anime that stands out more than other new releases.
The story revolves around the time of the Sengoku period. A historic Period of Japan that used to be wrapped up in constant battles and wars with new rules and commandments regularly. Orient season one is supposed to have 12 episodes in total. However, it’s not complete. The Anime is ongoing and currently has eight episodes. Now, waiting for the updates of an anime that you like is a hard job. The only way to overcome this problem all you need to do is to replace the anime with something similar! With that thought in mind, Today, we’ll be listing some Anime similar to Orient.
Plot of Orient
The plot revolves around the people of Hinomoto, who are living peacefully under the rule of demons who are treated like Gods. The same gods who banished all the Samurais. Musashi is the main protagonist of the story, and his main goal is to become a samurai. To hide himself and his opinion regarding the demon kingdom, he becomes a low-level miner. During this time, he also grew apart from his childhood friend, Kojirou.
As kids, they both promised each other to become strong samurais and fight against the demons. Kojirou decides to lead a different path. When Musashi arrives at the mine, he witnesses how the Miners are being treated brutally. But, Musashi manages to keep up all thanks to Kojirou. That’s when Kojirou decides to join Musashi and go on a journey full of adventures and help Musashi to become a samurai and soon create a clan of his own.
Anime similar to Orient:
1. Black Clover
Plot: Asta and Yuno are two young boys who were abandoned on the same day at the same place. They were raised together, and together they came across the “Wizard King”. It’s a title bestowed upon the strongest mage. They compete against others for the position of next Wizard King. As Asta and Yuno grow up, they start understanding the difference between them. While Yuno can wield magic with a great deal of power and control, Asta is unable to use magic at all. To wield magical powers, he desperately spends his time in physical training.
As they both reach the age of 15, Yuno gets a spectacular Grimoire, while Asta gets nothing. However, soon, Yuno gets attacked by Revchi, whose main goal is to obtain Grimoire that belongs to Yuno. To protect Yuno, Asta tries to fight Revchi, but he is outmatched. He somehow gets the courage to keep going even after being beaten up. He heard Yuno’s voice which Unleashed his rage (Yet another typical shounen manga move). Asta receives a five-leaf clover Grimoire. This gave him the power to defeat Revchi. After A few days, they both set off on their journey of becoming the next Wizard King.
Similarities: Both Black Clover and Orient feature the plot of Childhood friends having each other’s back in times of need. Even their goals are similar. In both the anime, the duo set off on a journey to make it to the top. Both the series belong to the shounen genre and have great Action themes.
2. Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon
Plot: It’s the story of Half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna, who have always been together, living peacefully in Feudal Japan. However, this peace is disrupted when a forest fire separates Towa and Setsuna. Towa is thrown into a portal which leads her to modern-day Japan. She was found by Souta Higurashi, who raised her as his daughter. Due to all these circumstances, she finds it difficult to go back in time.
Then there’s a Ten-year time skip, and Towa is 14-year-old now. She is a well-adjusted student and often gets into fights. One day she finds herself in an unexpected troublesome situation when she receives three visitors from Feudal Japan. Moroha (A bounty hunter), Setsuna (demon slayer), who is also Towa’s long-lost twin sister, and Mistress Three-Eyes (she is a demon seeking a mystical object). They all work together to defeat their enemies. In the meantime, Towa finds out that Setsuna has no memory of her.
Similarities: Both Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon and Orient belong to the Adventure and fantasy Genre. They both feature the friendship between the two main leads. In this case, the bond is even stronger as they are also twins. Another similarity is that they get drift apart from their friend (twin in this case) then reunite.
3. Shaman King
Plot: “The Shaman Fight” is a battle that takes place every five hundred years. In this tournament, shamans (people who can order and connect to spirits) confront each other in a battle. The winner of the contest becomes the Shaman King. The Shaman King possesses the power to contact the Great Spirit and keep it under their command. Through its Invincible powers, it allows the Shaman king to reshape the whole world to their will.
The series revolves around Asakura Yoh, who is a carefree and easygoing character and happens to be the heir of a powerful shamanic family. The anime follows all the adventures of Asakura as he strengthens his shaman skills to participate in the Shaman Fight and become the Shaman King. In this journey, Yoh makes friends as well as rivals. Eventually, He learns about the true dark nature of the Shaman Tournament.
Similarities: The main conception of and art of the anime is quite similar. They both belong to the Shounen genre and Stereotypically show the power of friendship and the Main character no Jutsu.
4. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Plot: Magi depicts a Supernatural middle-aged world where people are treated unequally. Suddenly two mysterious tall towers appear called ” Dungeons.” These wars are said to be the work of the Magi. A class of magicians who help others to build their empires by guiding them to a dungeon. Any person who conquers the Dungeons will become extremely powerful and wealthy. This suggests that even the commoners have the chance to be treated like a King.
The series follows the story of a commoner named Alibaba, a boy with big desires. As Slavery and Unfair practices were common in this world, he wanted to change the world. Now to achieve this goal, he needs to have the required power and status. Conquering the Dungeons is the only choice he has, even though it might cost him his life. He starts his journey along with his mentor Ugo. A djinn that can be summoned by Aladdin by using his flute.
Similarities: Both Magi and Orient belong to the shounen genre, and they are written and illustrated by the same mangaka, which gives them both similar Art styles and some similarities in the storyline.
5. Sankarea
Plot: Chihiro Furuya has been obsessed with zombies from a very young age to the point where he wishes to find an undead girlfriend (weird fetish dude). Soon Chihiro’s cat gets run over, and he decides to make some sort of Resurrection potion to bring the cat back to life. During this time, he notices a girl named Rea Yelling into a well every day. Later on, Chihiro forms a good bond with her. They start working together to resurrect the cat. Eventually, Chihiro succeeds with Rea’s help. As she belongs to a rich family background, she managed to arrange some poisonous hydrangea flowers.
She wasn’t aware of the potion’s success, and since she wanted to escape from the burdens of her life, she drank the potion as a suicide attempt. However, the potion did not kill her. It didn’t have any impact in real-time. Later on, she meets a fatal accident that kills her. This resulted in her being reborn as a zombie. She asks Chihiro for help as he knows a lot about the zombie world. He wishes to get a zombie girlfriend, but his life becomes strange as he has to deal with Rea’s cravings and transformation.
Similarities: Both the stories involve a fantasy factor which makes things interesting. Unlike Orient, it’s dedicated to the romance genre along with the adventures.
