Are you obsessed with ancient myths, pseudohistory, and conspiracy theories related to science and history but were never able to find someone to share this interest with you? If this is true for you, then Ancient Aliens might be the show for you. Potential alien contact, the possible reality of the lost city of Atlantis, and so many more topics get discussed in this fun documentary-like show from Prometheus Entertainment.
The show has been airing on the History Channel since 2010, and though it has mentioned that it discusses pseudo-realities, many have criticized it for trying to make things that are unproven and incorrect look like a fact and scientific. Though this criticism may be applicable considering the show does provide the audience with a bucket load of statements in such a short span of time that we are not given time to process and refute the information.
The voice behind each and every episode of the show is that of Robert Clotworthy, and the episodes seem to have taken information and inspiration from the works of Erich Von Daniken, Graham Hancock, Charles Hapgood, Edgar Cayce, and many others. The show also brings on set, for discussion, writer David Childress, and Nick Pope, a journalist.
The show is a treat for anybody who has an interest in hearing more about extraterrestrial beings that may have visited us on Earth, and civilizations, architecture, and technology that may have been prior to our existence, one there is no written record or proof of. We dive deep into the mythical and unreal aspects of world religions like Gnostic Christianity, Hinduism, and the religions of Ancient Egypt.
The show discusses hypothetical situations and beings and comes up with theories for different abstract concepts, but it is important to keep in mind they are nothing more than theories that have no backing to them and or scientific proof. Fans of the show have been advised to take the words of the experts on the show as outright factual statements but to take them in with a grain of salt.
Ancient Aliens’ Filming Locations
While a lot of the show is shot at sets and in studios, there are times when the crew sets out to get shots from the actual outside world. A heavy portion of the show makes use of a green screen and VFX to bring to life the pseudo-realities that the experts and guests on the show so passionately talk about.
Since the show has hypothetical situations, conspiracy theories, and the existence of beings that have not been quite in contact with us in way, shape, or form, a lot of the time, every single episode ends up spending a lot of time in post-production, where the tech guys have to work together to make sense out of the episodes.
We have not had a lot of episodes where the filming crew and the guests on the show have had to step out of their comfortable chairs and heated sets, but many managed to spot the crew out and about in Russia, near St. Petersburg, to be more specific. The channel revealed that this was being done for the third season of the show, which is going to have episodes with their base in Russia.
The crew was out getting shots of the historical monuments and other important pieces of history that might have been relevant to the show. The particular episode had its focus on aliens and extraterrestrial beings and their possible connection to Russia. The channel also put out pictures of the crew and the producer in St. Petersburg, Russia conducting interviews on the same topic.
While the show has been airing episodes for the past thirteen years, there have not been a lot of times where the show has indulged in outdoor shootings, which could also be why they do not like talking much about the outside, the one that actually is real. Though the narrator and the panel members do not seem to travel to different places, the camera crew definitely visits different locations for every episode to get shots of the place.
