Amy is the daughter of Gordon David, owner of a baby furniture company, and Sandra Jane, a homemaker. Even though Amy’s early years were filled with love and joy, everything changed after her father’s business went bankrupt. Amy finished her high-school education at South Side High School in Rockville Center.
Amy attended Towson University to achieve further education, and she graduated from the university with a degree in theatre. Amy was heavily criticized for her decision to undergo liposuction to lose weight by fat activists as they accused her of using her fat body to gain fame and then changing it.
The fat activist also cried about one more person down from the lack of representation of fat people in the industry. The fat activist and the overall community tried to boycott Amy after she lost weight for her health. Several accused her of being scared to be seen as fat and triggering insecurities in several young women with her decision.
