The second part of American Dad Season 20 is almost here, and we have to talk about it. American Dad Season 20 Episode 9 Recap
If anything, Stan is defined by his ego, neediness, and vanity. And in this episode, when he feels the need to maintain his peak, everything comes together into one upsetting moment.
Stan begins to revel after realizing his peak has been attained. He’s delighted to be in the best physical shape of his life. That is until a butcher informs him that the summit marks the beginning of the downhill slope.
Stan hurries out to see a plastic surgeon out of concern for what this will mean for him (instead of Weisman or Calgary, which makes sense, given their tendency for playing around with appearances). But this plastic surgeon isn’t messing around either; he gives Stan a medication injection that renders him unconscious.
When Stan wakes up, the doctor has his face, and the doctor has exchanged Stan’s visage with a (very unsettling) new face (and voice box). The doctor says that it’s part of his plan of retaliation, and he then leaves to move in with the Smiths.
The doctor turns the tables and declares that the real Stan is simply mad when he tries to persuade the family that the doctor is a fraud. The psychiatrist reveals that this is all part of his vengeance towards Stan for purchasing the property he desires.
Stan is driven away by the physician. Stan looks to Tuttle, the one person who can be of use to him. Stan finds the doctor after taking a detour through Asia, and a battle starts. Stan Face/Offs Stan takes his face off at the doctor’s office and leaves with the intention of having it put back on.
Roger purchases an apple, but it falls out of his hand, and Jeff and Klaus attempt to chase it through the sewer. In the sewer, he discovers an orange but not his apple. When he sees he can buy another one, he eventually emerges in front of Stan and the rest of the family and chases the object into the water.
