The announcement came amidst France’s annual “Choose France” event, with other notable companies like GSK and Accenture also announcing substantial investments.
The focus of Amazon’s investment includes enhancing its cloud infrastructure through Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Paris region to cater to France’s growing generative AI sector.
There are plans to bolster logistics infrastructure in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, aligning with the country’s emergence as an AI hub with flourishing startups like Mistral and Poolside, as well as established players like Meta and Google setting up AI research centers.
Frédéric Duval, Amazon France’s country manager, emphasized that the creation of over 3,000 permanent jobs is in addition to the 2,000 jobs previously announced for 2024.
This move not only underlines Amazon’s commitment to the French market but also contributes to the country’s employment landscape.
Part of the investment will go towards expanding Amazon’s logistics network, aiming to improve delivery efficiency while also reducing carbon emissions.
With over 35 logistics facilities already operating in France, the expansion signifies Amazon’s dedication to further optimizing its operations to meet growing consumer demands while aligning with sustainability goals.
Amazon’s continued investment in France, totaling over 20 billion euros since 2010, underscores its strategic focus on the country’s market potential and its determination to play a significant role in France’s economic growth trajectory.
