All American Season 5 Episode 16, of course, was the rebuilding phase of GAU. That’s really what’s going on with Jordan and Spencer at GAU. And, of course, they have a couple of ideas from Billy’s playbook about talking to some people that kind of lost opportunities and kind of did some stupid things that kind of cost them a big chance to get into, like, a college and to get to the top to the big leagues and stuff like that.
So it was cool because, in this Episode, they took from Billy’s playbook about giving people second chances. And I’m really happy that they did that in this Episode. Jordan and Spencer might get in trouble. Yes, Coach Kenny might not like the idea of this one dude not playing for four years and this one dude having a record.
But I do think that they deserve second chances. And I think we should invite them even though this is just an invitation when it comes to these tryouts.
They gave them invitations even though they had an idea of “OK, there are no guarantees, but I still think we should give them chances. We should give them a shot, and then we should show Coach Kenny just when they get there that this was worth it and that we did this and we see potential in them.
All American Season 5 Episode 16 Review
I think there’s more to the story about the one dude that had the record. And we ended up finding out the one dude that had the record, and he had a breaking and entering the record. He also had a weapons charge on his record. But he did all that because his mom and his sister were homeless, and he did what he did to survive.
Even though he’s like he says that he regrets what he did, right now, he is helping young athletes at his gym to get them right and make them make smart decisions so that he can send them off to college and get them where they need to be”. This is commendable that that dude is like “even though my dream is gone, I could still make a new dream and I can still give people, and help people so they can achieve their dreams.”
And I love how Spencer is; he’s giving this dude a second chance saying like, “You should have gotten a second chance. No one should be held against you for you making a stupid decision. By the way, the only decision that you thought possible was to help out your family.” So I’m glad that our boy Spencer did that for him and was willing to listen to this guy’s story and give someone a second chance.
Like someone gave Spencer a chance, Billy, and look at Spencer now. I mean, Billy took a chance on him, and look where Spencer is now doing all these great things and making his way to the NFL. He’s repaying the favor to Billy in a way by giving someone else an opportunity, a second chance so that they can succeed in life, and so they can get into college so that way they can get to their big dreams that they once had about getting into the NFL.
Giving A Second Chance To A Guy Who Was Inactive For Years
Then the other dude that Jordan talked to ended up having a kid, and Coach Garrett pretty much sidelined them and pretty much made it where like he was about to sign to join GAU. But pretty much Garrett kind of sideline them and says, “Oh, that’s not happening” because of the fact of him having a kid.
Even though he hasn’t played for four years, Jordan is pretty confident that this dude deserves a chance because, if anything, he would be in the NFL by now. I mean, in those four years that he hasn’t played football, there was a chance he could be in the NFL. He’s like, “I wanna give this dude a second chance.”
So I love how they’re kind of taking the lessons that Billy has taught them, and they are taking it from his playbook. I love that; it’s like metaphorical and physical. And I love that that’s what they chose to do.
Coach Kenny Was Not Happy With Giving Second Chances
I did not love the fact that Coach Kenny was so against it. He was saying, “They’re washed out, they’re too old now, and they can’t do this.” He pretty much was not willing to give them a second chance. And it was so keen on that one dude having a record. He was not even willing to like kind of find out why that dude had a record. Spencer was like, “Why don’t you find out why he has the record.”
Eventually, he does look into why the dude has the record. But he was not willing to see what Spencer and Jordan were willing to see and see the fact that he was giving these dudes second chances. And that’s the big thing.
It’s so hard nowadays when people make dumb mistakes, or something happens, and no one is willing to reach out and give someone a second chance. And the fact that they’re willing to do that and they learned that lesson from Billy is very awesome.
I just thought it was weird that Coach was not willing to give them a chance. He was like, “Oh, this isn’t an invitation to do that. These dudes are washed up, and they can’t do this”. When they ended up showing up, he was like, “I don’t wanna also like I don’t wanna break these dudes heart again.”
Coach Kenny was like Spencer and Jordan are making it sound like there are no guarantees, “but you’re willing to make them come here, and it’s like, they’ve moved on past their dreams, and they’ve been doing other things. And now it’s kind of like, if they don’t make it now, I have to go tell them and break their hearts that they did all this for nothing”.
But in reality, they knew the risk of going into this tryout to be a walk-on at GAU. They knew the risk that there was no guarantee, but they loved the idea of someone asking them and someone giving them a second chance.
That’s the thing Kenny wasn’t understanding. He was like, “You’re giving them a second chance…”. Yeah, they know there is no guarantee, but it’s the fact that it’s the little thing that you’re giving them a second chance that no one gave them, and people just turned their back on them.
Coach Kenny Finally Understood
Coach Garrett screwed over that one dude that Jordan was talking to and then freaking the other dude that definitely needed to do this to survive and help his mom and his sister survive, and he did something stupid. But no one was willing to see from his perspective and give him a second chance, but they’re willing to do that.
They are literally carrying out Billy’s legacy but also making their own legacy. And it’s like the life lessons that Billy taught them that they are using, and I just love that about All American Season 5, Episode 16.
As I said, I didn’t like the fact that Coach Kenny was all against it. And, of course, when he saw them pretty much getting the rust off them when they were on the field doing what they do best. He saw what Spencer and Jordan were talking about, and he was willing to make them take in and give them a scholarship”.
So I just loved that aspect of this Episode of them kind of showing Kenny that it’s the fact that you do the little things. It’s that they know there’s no guarantee, but they wanted someone to come to them to say that “I wanna give you another shot at your dreams.”
That’s what they were trying to show Kenny that we need to be the people that give people second chances cause not a lot of people will give us second chances in this world. So I really love how they took Billy’s message, and they kind of like took from his playbook.
Patience Thinking About Her Parents’ Legacy
Layla, Patience, and Olivia end up going to Skye and kind of ‘how to survive the Internet as an influencer.’ And it was really good; I understood why Patience and Layla were going mainly for Patience because Patience needed to get away from Nico and all that crazy situation. So I understood why, like, OK, this ‘how to survive the Internet as an influencer’ which, Patience is an influencer because she’s a singer and stuff like that.
So I love the aspect of that tied in very well. And also, I love the fact that Layla was trying to get away from the fact that she is looking at label designs and how to fit the Keaning naming and her renaming of the label. She wants to do a big party for the renaming of the label and kind of trying to find a logo for the Keening name.
But she can’t figure it out. She kind of, in a way, feels like, “Since I wasn’t able to have Keening name before, I was building the legacy of my mother with her name. But now that I do have the name back from Clay, I feel like if I drop that and I pick up the Keening name; I’ll be letting down my mother.
But if I keep the name of my mother that I used for the label that I built on my own, I feel like I’m living down my dad, and I kind of feel like I asked for the name back for Clay for, like, no reason.
So she’s kind of like in a jumble of like, “how do I not let anybody down, and where is the middle area where I can follow the legacy of both of them and make my own legacy and also keep the legacy of both of my parents alive. Where’s the middle ground? Where can I feel like I’m honoring both of my parents?”
Patience Sings For A Girl
But when they go to Skye’s talk big speech that she had, they end up seeing someone that’s having a quinceanera, and they go like be someone else for a day. So they ended up going to that, and it was funny because one of the girls that were having the quinceanera ended up noticing, of course, Patience.
After noticing Patience, the girl was like, “Oh my God, my parents got me Patients. Are you going to sing for me? She’s going to sing for us guys”. And Patience is kind of like, “Oh, I would do it. She’s cute, and she’s a fan, and this will make me feel better” about how she feels so bad about how people are looking at her about the whole fire and ice video and some people not liking the new Patience and some people like the new Patience.
And she’s kind of like this gets her mind off of who likes her and who doesn’t like her. And the fact that this little girl likes her and this makes her feel better.
Overall Review On All American Season 5 Episode 16
I really liked All American Season 5 Episode 16; it was a really good episode. It should be very interesting to see how the season ends because we still have a lot of things that we need to do before the season is over, mainly with the Miko situation. So we still have a lot going on with the Miko spying on Patience, and Patience still doesn’t know. So that’s probably the biggest thing that we got going on.
I would say the JJ thing is a lot bigger because I need that resolved quickly, especially after him almost dying. I need that way more than I need it to be resolved with the whole Mico situation. That’s secondhand to what’s been going on with JJ. Personally, that’s how I feel, but yeah, guys think. Let me know your thoughts on this episode.
Let me know what made you kind of annoyed about this episode and if you guys had anything that’s been annoying you. For me, mainly, it was definitely the thing with JJ. I feel bad for that character because that’s one of my favorite characters, and they’ve been screwing him over the season.
