Adele Roberts, aka Adele Claire Roberts, was born on March 9, 1979, in Southport, Merseyside, England. She had the company of six younger siblings while growing up. She is the daughter of Stephen and Julie Roberts and one of six siblings.
Roberts grew up in Formby but spent most of her childhood at her grandfather’s home in Liverpool. She went to the Marks Church of England Primary School and then back to Southport, where she attended Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Girls from 1994 to 1996 though she dropped out without taking a GCSE or A-level exam.
Adele is a big fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and has been said to have season tickets for the team. She has also stated that she enjoys watching football. She grew up as a famous British broadcaster, reality TV personality, and DJ. Roberts is bisexual and campaigns for LGBTQ rights. She presented “Coming out, “a documentary that depicts her struggle and metaphorically depicts many people’s coming out stories. She is always eager to voice out the discrimination, homophobia, and ostracism in the black church.
On November 23, 2013, the Church of England released a report that pinpointed the racism that black people face within the institution. She was excluded from Anglican churches, which she referred to as discrimination. In 2009 Adele Roberts was awarded an honorary degree from Leicester University for advancing LGBTQ equality and combating homophobia and transphobia within the black community.
In 2013 she was awarded an honorary degree by the University of York for her contribution to the fight for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and those with HIV. Adele was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 39.
