The stakes are higher than ever as Ace of the Diamond Act II continues Eijun Sawamura’s journey after he steps onto the national stage as Seidou High’s official ace in the upcoming season. The official X account confirmed that the anime will return with its second cour this October. The announcement also revealed a new opening theme song by GLAY and a new ending theme song by OxT.

The first cour premiered on April 5 on TV Tokyo, its affiliated stations, and AT-X. It has also been streaming on Netflix in Japan since its debut. Internationally, Crunchyroll is simulcasting the anime across North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS regions, while Muse Asia handles streaming in South and Southeast Asia.
A New Sound for a New Chapter: GLAY and OxT Lead Ace of Diamond Act II Cour 2
Perhaps the biggest surprise from Sunday’s announcement was the reveal of the theme song artists for Cour 2. Legendary rock band GLAY will perform the opening theme, while OxT, known for its high-energy anime songs, will handle the ending theme.
The new lineup marks a noticeable change from Cour 1, which featured Baby Canta’s upbeat opening theme, “Let’s Go Crazy,” and SUPER★DRAGON’s ending theme, “Number.” With more than three decades in the J-rock scene, GLAY’s involvement suggests that the second half of the season will take on a more emotional and dramatic tone as Seido’s journey moves closer to Koshien.
Where the Story Left Off: Seido vs. Komadai Fujimaki
Ace of Diamond Act II Season 2 follows Seido High’s baseball team as it earns a spot in the Spring Koshien tournament. Standing in their way is Komadai Fujimaki, the reigning Summer Koshien champions, led by their dominant ace, Masamune Hongo.
The first cour of the series focused on building this rivalry while showcasing Eijun Sawamura’s growth as Seido’s ace. As Cour 2 begins this October, the competition is set to become\ even more intense as the Koshien tournament enters its decisive stage.
Production Update: New Studio, Same Creative Team
One of the biggest changes this season happened behind the scenes. Hideaki Ōba, known for Kunon the Sorcerer Can See, I’m in Love with the Villainess, and Love of Kill, joined Studio OLM as the new director, taking over from Mitsuyuki Masuhara, who directed every previous anime in the franchise.
The rest of the creative team remains in experienced hands. Kenji Konuta returns to oversee the series composition, while Yasukazu Shōji, known for Major 2nd and Restaurant to Another World, joins as the new character designer. Hajime Hyakkoku also returns to compose the music.
The move from Madhouse to Studio OLM initially raised concerns among fans, but the first cour has largely put those worries to rest by maintaining the series’ strong visual quality.
The Manga That Built the Ace of Diamond Franchise
Yuji Terajima’s original manga debuted in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in May 2006 and ran until January 2015, spanning 412 chapters across 47 volumes. Its sequel, Ace of Diamond Act II, was serialized from August 2015 to October 2022, ending with 308 chapters collected in 34 volumes. The manga also won the Shōnen category at the 34th Kodansha Manga Awards.
The anime adaptation first premiered in 2013 and has built a loyal fanbase around the world ever since. With Ace of Diamond Act II Season 2 Cour 2 set to premiere this October, fans are eager to see Seido’s journey continue on the national stage.
What to Expect From Ace of Diamond Act II Cour 2
With new theme songs by GLAY and OxT, Ace of Diamond Act II Cour 2 is shaping up to deliver the intense baseball action and emotional moments that fans love. The biggest question heading into the new Season is whether Eijun Sawamura can prove himself as Seido’s true ace when he faces top teams, including the powerful Komadai Fujimaki, led by Masamune Hongo.
Fans can watch Ace of Diamond Act II Cour 2 this October on TV Tokyo and AT-X in Japan. International viewers will be able to stream the series on Crunchyroll. The production committee has not yet announced the exact premiere date.
