The Man, the myth, the legend James Moriarty is back again with a bang. After leaving matters in the hands of Casey Selmoy and the clockwork order, James has decided to return to get his subordinate back from the beast he has turned into. Remember the heist back in Academy’s Undercover Professor chapter 49? That heist has now turned into a complete disaster as Hans got forced into transforming into the Beast of Gévaudan and now it’s up to James to clean up this mess.
In Academy’s Undercover Professor Chapter 52, we saw Casey going up against the horde of beasts summoned by the Beast of Gévaudan in an attempt to save the civilians but despite her best attempts, she failed to succeed. As she decides to throw her life on the line, she gets helped by her sworn enemy James Moriarty who casually takes down the monster she struggled so much with. Now the real question is will Hans be able to return to normal? And will Casey let things play out like this?
Academy’s Undercover Professor Chapter 52 “Night Of The Hunt”: Recap
In the previous chapters, we saw Hans using the “Athearn Nocturnus” artefact to turn into the Beast of Gévaudan. His transformation sent chills down the spines of everyone including the great “Celadon Green” Casey Selmoy. James, not being prepared enough, decided to let Hans loose for the time being which put Casey and her team in a tough spot. Casey fought bravely despite her magic being countered and managed to keep the monster at bay but not for long as the beast gives a terrifying howl and calls in a horde of rats to assist him in battle.
Caisey falls back as she realizes the beast’s ability to control other beasts and finds herself running away as she’s scared of rats. She uses her magic to create a wall between her and the horde but the rats start to climb it. Casey’s subordinates come to her aid and use their magic to fight back. The Clockwork Order also continues their fight when they suddenly find out that the defeated rats combined with the severed head to form a Cryptid. This also resolved the mystery of the sudden appearance of Cryptids during the “night of blood”.
The clockwork order tries to defeat the beasts knowing that failure would result in another nightmare similar to Gevaudan. Casey gets surrounded by the rats making her unable to fight the main beast. Betty advises her to fall back but Casey refuses as there are still citizens left in the area. Casey stands firmly against the horde of beasts putting her life on the line to help the citizens escape the area when suddenly all the cryptids stop moving and turn back to look at something.
In the faint moonlight, a man clad in pure black descends from the sky and its none other than James Moriarty. Casey shouts his name which alerts her subordinates. She realizes that the strong aura she has been feeling till now and the nonchalant expression on this man’s face is proof enough that he is James Moriarty indeed and even the monsters realize that he’s a force to be reckoned with.
James expresses his concern as he thought that Hans would recognise him but he also understands that it’s hard to overcome the insanity of this monster. He realizes that Hans is still alive in there somewhere and as his leader, it’s his duty to save him from danger. James pulls out his sword and charges towards the monster and easily cuts through shocking everyone including Casey. She thinks that James is using some sort of teleportation magic to be able to move this fast.
James uses his speed to constantly cut the monster which makes Casey fear as she believes that the severed heads would just regenerate but she gets surprised to see that they don’t. She realizes that this is her chance to get away and help everyone get to safety and so despite being a little upset, she decides to leave matters into James’s hands as she just got a demonstration of how skilled he truly is.
