So many people in the world have remarkable dancing skills, but only a few dare to show up on the stage and showcase it. That’s what shows like Dance Monsters take care of.
Being the first of its kind, Dance Monster involves the use of CGI which alters the dancer’s moves into animations on the stage. As interesting as it sounds, all the contestants are real people and have to go through various rounds to make it to the final.
The thought behind the unique show is to remove any insecurity or bias that looks can have on stage. The performance purely depends on the dancer’s skills, regardless of whatever background they may come from.
Dance Monsters will be hosted by Ashley Roberts, best known as a member of the group The Pussycat Dolls. Each performance will be judged and rated accordingly, and only those who can stay safe until the end will win the competition. This will be done by the judging panel, made up of celebrities and media personalities like Lele Pons, Ne-Yo, and, Ashley Banjo.
Dance Monster: A Look At The Judges
A unique dance competition requires a unique set of judges, and with the judging panel Netflix has come up with for it, Dance Monsters will be surely much more entertaining. Here’s a brief look into each judge’s story:
Lele Pons:
This Venezuela-born actress rose to fame through her vines, and although Vine was removed, she continued uploading her short sketch comedies on YouTube, which is where she started to gain more fame. Lele Pons’s works include Insane Kids (2016) and Airplane Mode (2019).
She has also starred in series such as Escape The Night and her show, The Secret Life Of Lele Pons. Lele has also won many awards, the most notable being the Teen Choice Award for best Viner in 2017.
Ne-Yo:
A singer with many hit songs until now, Ne-Yo first rose to fame through one of the songs he wrote for Mario. This led to the start of his music career, which includes various R&B awards for best singer. He is originally from Arkansas but moved to Las Vegas in his later years.
The singer had recently been a part of The Masked Singer, which follows a similar concept to that of Dance Monsters. His experience would help in evaluating each dancer without them even being on stage.
Ashley Banjo:
A professional dancer being on the judging panel makes sense, and that’s what Ashely’s here for. You might know him from Britain’s Got Talent, a show where he both performed and judged (For a short time).
Banjo has been a part of countless dance competitions and series and is now at Dance Monsters to use his years of experience in evaluating each monster.
