Spy X Family Episode 22 is set to release this weekend. Kazuhiro Furuhashi directs the series, which features characters designed by Kazuaki Shimada and animation directed by Kazuaki Shimada and Kyoji Asano. The manga series of the same title was written by Tatsuya Endo.
The spy thriller Spy X Family was produced by Wit Studio and CloverWorks. Master spy Twilight must create a mock family under the name Loid Forger, then disguise himself as Dr. Loid Forger to investigate political leader Donovan Desmond. As a telepath with superpowers acquired through telekinesis, Yor is a telepath with superpowers acquired through telepathy.
We see in episode 21 that as a wise agent, Nightfall visits the Forgers in an attempt to replace Yor, partly because she is in love with Loid. Loid is genuinely happy with Yor and Anya when Fiona realizes that and leaves heartbroken. However, she informs Loid that their next mission will take place together.
It is only when Bond gets jealous of Anya’s stuffed penguin that he destroys it, which greatly upsets Anya. Loid repairs the penguin and convinces both Bond and Anya to make amends.
SPY x FAMILY Episode 21 Review
This episode begins with Nightfall (or Fiona Frost), Twilight’s coworker who has been sent to work alongside him on a mission, whom we met briefly while Anya was in the hospital. However, it is evident that she is interested in more than simply missions: Twilight also draws to her.
Her ambition is to replace Yor in Operation STRIX, and she even invites herself to the Forger’s home to see how the living conditions are. She not only imposes on Yor, but she also has the guts to make her feel horrible, and I want to punch her in the face. Nightfall’s comment about Loid complaining about Yor at work was my favorite part.
Of course, this is the kind of “good hate” the creators were trying to achieve, so congrats to them. Anya catches on pretty quickly and publicly proclaims her love for Yor and her family in front of Nightfall, who keeps on making excuses to take over the title Mrs. Forger and get Yor out of the picture.
It is unclear to me, however, if what she sees in Twilight is a sign of the emotional detachment that he taught her or if he is happy with Yor and Anya, as she thinks. This was not clear to me at first, but seeing her cry under the rain convinced me my assumption had been wrong and that she was happy. Because she couldn’t accept his genuine smile toward them, she left.
He does discover the assignment they’ve been assigned to collaborate on… Does this imply that my simp dreams might come true? Twilight and Yor would make an excellent couple, but you already knew that. In the second mini-chapter of Spy x Family, Bond kills Anya’s plushie at night because he is jealous of it.
My favorite part of it was the furry baby, especially if it was a little spoiled jealous big pup. Of course, Yor did not have the sewing skills to make Mr.Penguin, so Loid salvaged his life while teaching Anya the importance of battle scars as Anya and Bond reached a peace agreement. A sweet, heartwarming snippet that was a welcome change from the opener. I can’t wait for more Twi x Yor goodness to follow, and hope for more moments between them in the future.
