Birth is but a fact of life, without it, there can be no individual, group, society, or even a country. It is the most celebrated time for most of us and even more so for mothers, which is why they have always been respected for the miracle. Then some mothers give birth to not one but multiple children at once. As seen in 2015, a couple going through complications for conceiving had triplets who were born healthy. And this time we are talking about a mother who has given birth to not three but ten children! Except, it was a lie.
Gosiame Thamara Sithole, the mother who gave birth to 10 children at age 37, went viral in 2021 and brought her attention she could never have imagined. Sadly, the interest grew far beyond and a lot of people in higher-ranking positions decided to check it, to get more stuff to talk about. To their surprise, the info that came out was nothing they could imagine, what they learned was that children don’t exist. Or the 10 of them that were supposed to be born at the same time. They were shocked but they ran many searches to make sure they don’t cover false info. Soon they learned that Gosiame Thamara Sithole might have lied about the whole affair. Ironically enough, she was never the one who told them.
The Authorities were awestruck by this revelation and were shocked as to why would the couple even lie. It makes no sense for a couple to lie about their upcoming children in any capacity. It would benefit them in no way. Even if the popularity of the news is taken into consideration, there was no way for them to predict that the news would explode into the world. This is true and something the couple, Gosiame and Teboho(her partner), didn’t expect either. It was an innocent mistake on Teboho’s part. For he admitted he was not her husband until she had come to him, pregnant.

The couple had reported having gotten 7 boys and 3 girls when they were expecting only 8 children or that was what they said. The truth was that they had lied from the beginning, and whose idea it was to fabricate that lie is still unknown. One thing is for sure, the acts like these are the reason pessimism is on the rise.
This led many to raise the question about the journalist who had published the article and is said to be a friend of the fake mother. In his defense, the journalist blamed the authorities for going to the deep end and trying to uncover the truth. He instigated that the authorities do not think highly of the birth and don’t want the world to participate in this matter. Predictably, the authorities were mad and sued Piet(the Journalist) for defamation. He lost the case as he had no evidence for the ten children that were born to Gosiame.
In Pier’s defense, he had no reason to doubt Gosiame and her family when they told him about the delivery of 10 babies. He had known them for a year and they were on good terms. However, it was his duty as a journalist to research deeper into the matter before publishing his story. As this story was shared by multiple news sites all over the world and Gosiame and her Decuplets. As a journalist, one should always have facts on hand before reporting news.

This led to an already high-profile story being noticed further beyond. And in case you were wondering, this is one of the major reasons authorities stepped in to do the investigation. Where their suspicion came from we can’t say, but their doubts were spot on.
