Alexi Hawley’s Crime television series, The Rookie is scheduled to release the next episode this week. With so much going on in the last few episodes, the new one will give a much-needed break from the chaos we’ve been seeing. The Rookie’s 5th season started airing on 25th September 2022.
With a story based on a real-life occurrence, The Rookie brings us the tale of John Nolan, who has an epiphany after saving a bank from getting robbed. He joined the police department at 45, which is considered too old since the age limit is only up to 37 in many places. This causes him to be looked down upon by his superiors and get underestimated in many cases.
The show premiered for the first time on October 16th, 2018, and since has been renewed for new seasons each year. With more than 5 Million views each season, the show remains one of the most popular series by Hawley.
The Rookie: Story So Far
When John was first shown in the series, he had a 19-year-old son and was going through a divorce. When he goes to deposit his ring in the bank, a few robbers try to break in and collect the cash. Being brave at heart, he stands up to the thugs and buys enough time for the police to arrive.
This gives him the courage to join the police force, and although he faces a lot of criticism for making such a big decision so late in his life, he proves everyone wrong with his great achievements as the story progresses.
We see the sad death of one of the rookies who join Nolan, Jackson West, when he tries to save Angela Lopez from the kidnappers. Nolan catches a big notorious gang himself, causing him to receive some much-needed appreciation and respect. In the recent season, Nolan also ends up in a relationship with Bailey Nune, the firefighter.
The Rookie Season 5 Episode 4’s Quick Recap:
In the previous episode that aired on television on October 16th, 2022, Bailey had fallen prey to one of Rosalind’s evil plans. She gets caught in a metallic tank and immediately alerts John and the other police officers. They come over and try to save her, but no matter what way they use, it triggers the tank to release one of the traps.
When the power to the house is shut off, water starts to fill in the tank, giving Bailey only a few hours until she drowns in it. Just then, Nolan gets a call from Rosalind, letting him know that the only way to save Bailey is if he comes to visit her without anyone knowing.
He listens and heads over to the place according to her instructions. Nolan does try to outsmart her a few times but Rosalind’s plan was foolproof.
The police figure out that Nolan’s gone and launch a search for him. Nolan reaches Rosalind’s rental and she informs him that she won’t kill him, instead, he will be killing her. She offers him the gun and asks him to give up his morality to kill her and save his girlfriend.
John is unable to shoot her, but the police officers back at the tank end up shutting off the generator and disabling all booby traps. Bailey is rescued and Nolan arrests Rosalind, but she gets shot by a mysterious person. This was her alternate plan if Nolan wouldn’t kill her.

The Next episode is set to air on October 23rd, 2022. New episodes of the show are released on Sundays with 45-minute episodes each week.
What can we Expect in “The Rookie” Season 5 Episode 5?
The 5th episode will be titled “The Fugitive” and will feature Nolan on a search for a fugitive that causes a deadly accident. He will be accompanied by officer Celina Juarez. Lucy and Tim’s bond will get stronger when Lucy helps Tim overcome his past.
