Who is Keith Hernandez?

Keith completed his high school at Terra Nova High, Keith in one of his interviews revealed how he almost took admitted to Serra High School, a high school that was famous for producing some of the top star athletes like Tom Brady & Barry Bonds.
Back in his high school days, Keith was often confused as a Mexican because of his surname, but that never stopped him from being good at his game, as he was a star athlete even back during high school. He was often considered a hot-headed guy who frequently had disputes with his coach, a habit which later showed up during his professional career, and it never made things easy for Keith.
After playing for his college, Keith got drafted by one of the top baseball teams of that time “The St Louis Cardinals”. At the beginning of his baseball career with the Cardinals, Keith batted with an avg of .250, but he was a player who was known for his constant efforts & with every match, he improved his game, increasing his batting avg from .250 to .350, as a result, he earned his golden ticket to play in the big league club matches.
Career & Life
After entering the Big League Club, his first match was against San Francisco Giants, where he went from “ 1-for-2 with two walks” during that period, Keith was really impressed with his fielding skills with just ‘2 errors in 507 chances” & an incredible fielding percentage of .996. But he really struggled when it came to batting, he only had 3 home runs under his belt & his batting avg was .250 only.

To which manager Herzog commented, “ Keith had become cancer for the team,” & he was glad that he got traded. Keith later said that he believed he got traded because of his habit of consuming cocaine during games & he further added that many other players, apparently 40% of players, consume drugs before/during a game – His statement really became controversial at that time.
By the time he started playing for New York Mets, his game had improved drastically, especially his fielding, he was even got considered one of the greatest fielding basemen of all time.
But in 1985, Keith’s previous case of use of drugs & distributing them to several players, which until then was considered a rumor, came out in public & as a result, he got suspended for 7 seasons & was asked to donate 10% of his salaries to drug abuse related programs, and he had to work 100 hours in a drug abuse related community service.
