The compilation film Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK, summarizing the two-part final season Attack on Titan: THE FINAL CHAPTERS, debuted in first place at the Japanese box office.

In its second weekend, it secured the second spot, earning 179 million yen (approximately 1.16 million USD) from 125,000 ticket sales.

The film has achieved significant success, with a cumulative gross of 500 million yen (3.24 million USD) from 380,000 admissions, outperforming the franchise’s first compilation movie, Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow, which earned 400 million yen in 2014.

This latest film, THE LAST ATTACK, has quickly become a highlight for the franchise, showcasing its enduring popularity.

The movie is part of a limited three-week theatrical release in Japan, set to conclude on November 28. Fans have shown strong support, and the milestone has been celebrated by the official Attack on Titan team.

The franchise’s official social media platforms have shared a special video featuring comments from main voice actors Yuki Kaji, Yui Ishikawa, and Marina Inoue, along with director Yuichiro Hayashi, to thank fans for their enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, other films in Japan’s box office also saw notable performances. The live-action adaptation of Yui Tamura’s manga Yano-kun no Futsu no Hibi premiered in 339 theaters across the country, debuting in fifth place.

Despite its modest opening, the film managed to rank seventh in Filmarks’ first-day satisfaction ratings with an average score of 3.53 out of 5, based on early reviews.

Its reception highlights a growing interest in live-action adaptations of popular manga titles.

In the anime sector, Fuuto Tantei: Kamen Rider Skull no Shozo, a feature film from the FUUTO PI anime series, failed to make the Top 10 in its second weekend.

Although it had an enthusiastic start, its momentum appears to have slowed. Similarly, the live-action film based on Momoko Koda’s shojo manga Atashino! also dropped out of the Top 10 during its second weekend in theaters, suggesting limited staying power for some adaptations in the competitive market.

Despite varying box office performances, Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK stands out as a major success. Its ability to surpass earlier films in the franchise underscores the enduring appeal of the series and its characters.

With its theatrical run nearing its end, the film’s achievements will likely further cement Attack on Titan’s legacy in anime history.

Fans continue to celebrate the series, which remains a cultural phenomenon even as it reaches its conclusion.

These updates reflect the dynamic nature of Japan’s box office, where anime and manga adaptations continue to play a significant role.

The success of Attack on Titan highlights the importance of fan engagement, while the mixed results of other films showcase the challenges faced by new entries in maintaining their momentum.
