We just hope you’re ready for Chesapeake Shores Season 6 to release on Hallmark Channel in just a few days from now! For so many years, the O’Brien family has been a fantastic source of TV escape, and the journey isn’t quite ended yet.
Prepare your tissues. After six seasons, Chesapeake Shores is finally saying goodbye to the Hallmark fans that have spent years crying, laughing, and loving alongside the O’Brien family. The multigenerational drama, which is based on Sherryl Woods’ book of the same name, made its Hallmark Channel debut in August 2016. It follows successful professional woman Abby O’Brien, a divorced mother of twins, as she relocates from New York City to her hometown of Chesapeake Shores.
Fans were instantly attracted by the close-knit brood’s romantic highs and lows following season 1, with Abby’s love life serving as a significant plot point. Abby runs across people from her past, including her high school sweetheart Trace, when she returns. And considering season 6 would be the last season, you definitely wouldn’t want to miss it.
Chesapeake Shores Season 6 Release Date
Chesapeake Shores Season 6 will be released on 14 August 2022 at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Channel. This season will have 10 episodes. We expect that the show’s premiere will start addressing some of the cliffhangers from season 5; most notably, the set-up of Abby O’Brien’s love triangle. Although we are well aware that this may be a really effective storytelling tool, we don’t really need to witness this for the entire season. We’d want to see Abby begin to take steps toward her own happiness rather than remaining stuck in uncertainty for an extended period of time because this show is often best when a lot of different things are constantly happening.
While Chesapeake Shores is generally a joyful series, there are a few different hints in this season’s trailer of what is to come, so we won’t pretend that it is drama-free. That will be covered in the story along with some difficult decisions and interesting character dynamics. Even if happiness is not something that is immediately present, what matters most at this stage is that we eventually work towards it. We’re definitely going to miss Chesapeake Shores a lot, especially since Hallmark doesn’t have many long-running original series left after it ends.
Chesapeake Shores Season 6 Cast
This season includes a new cast member, Robert Buckley. Earlier, actor Jesse Metcalfe, who played the part of Trace Riley, left the show, and his arc was completed in the previous season. For the last season of the series, a number of people return to the cast, including Barabar Niven and lead actress Meghan Ory. Abby O’Brien, the lead, is played by Meghan Ory. Throughout the course of the show, she has received high praise from critics for her work, and viewers have developed a devoted following for her character. Ory has made appearances in a number of well-known movies and television shows, including Once Upon a Time, Dark House, and Intelligence on CBS.
In season 6 of Chesapeake Shores, new cast member Robert Buckley plays the role of a businessman named Evan. It will be interesting to see how Evan’s character develops because it’s expected that he will have a huge impact on Abby’s life. Buckley has made appearances in several movies and television shows, including iZombie, One Tree Hill, 666 Park Avenue, and many more. Actor Treat Williams dons the part of the head of the family, Mick O’Brien. Williams’ acting in the show has received high praise from both critics and viewers. The seasoned actor has starred in a number of noteworthy movies, including Hair and Once Upon a Time in America.
In Chesapeake Shores, Megan O’Brien is portrayed by Barbara Niven. Her relationship with the entire O’Brien family has been complicated by Megan’s separation from Mick over the years. Throughout the length of the show, Niven has been fairly excellent, expressing the many aspects of her character with remarkable skill. The actress has appeared in numerous television movies, including Black Widow, All You’ve Got, and many others.
Apart from the actors mentioned above, the series also features several others in crucial supporting roles, including: Emilie Ullerup as Bree O’Brien, Laci J Mailey as Jess O’Brien, Andrew Francis as Connor O’Brien, Brendan Penny as Kevin O’Brien, Abbie Magnuson as Caitlyn Winters, Kayden Magnuson as Carrie Winters, Stephen Huszar as Luke Tatum, Carlo Marks as David Peck, Gillian Barber as Deidre Peck, Mariesa Crouse as Margaret Keller, Greyston Holt as Jay Ross, Wesley Salter as Mandrake, Laara Sadiq as Agent Malik, Theresa Wong as Dr. Yang and Elizabeth Blanco as Nurse.
Cast On Chesapeake Shores Season 6
The 10-episode final season won’t be the only fans see of the O’Brien clan, as the cast are close friends outside of the show. In fact, many of the actors have already gushed about the connection they have had over the years.
After filming was finished in July, Ullerup posted a group photo on Instagram with the statement, “It is the longest-running job of my career. Both in our daily lives and in our make-believe world, a lot happened. Having a large second family to share the positives and negatives with was a wonderful support system”.
Ory, the star of the series, also shed some tears when she said goodbye to her Hallmark family. “Well, #chesapeakeshores has concluded after six seasons! It has been quite the run! I started this year with #hyperemesisgravidarum and finished it with #covid,” she posted on Instagram in July 2022. “I want to express my gratitude to the entire cast and crew for their patience with me while I attempted not to shit on anyone”.
Chesapeake Shores Season 6 Preview
Abby O’Brien seemed to have decided what to do. In the Chesapeake Shores season 5 finale, Abby was wondering whether to pursue a relationship with wealthy Evan Kincaid or with the teacher Jay Ross. The first trailer for the upcoming season of the show now provides a significant hint as to which man she ultimately chose.
The Chesapeake Shores Season 6 trailer gives the impression that Evan (Robert Buckley) will stop at nothing to win Abby over (Meghan Ory). In the clip, the guy turns up to ask her out on a date to a yacht while wearing a suit.
“Ready to jump aboard?” he asks. Abby, who is wearing a very cozy-looking sweatshirt, responds, “I don’t think I’m suited for this date.” Evan tells her, “You have never looked more beautiful.” In any event, we catch a glimpse of the pair dancing on the boat, with Abby donning a floor-length green gown, suggesting that he might have had a change of clothes for her.
Chesapeake Shores Season 6 Plot
Evan’s yacht date is a definite upgrade from the loving gesture he made to win over Abby’s heart in the finale of Chesapeake Shores Season 5. In that episode, he met her at the airport before her arrival and took her to lunch. He also extended a formal invitation to a date, but she declined, saying she wanted more time to think about it.
Was that a reason for Abby’s hesitation? She wasn’t entirely sure about Jay’s current situation. Later on in that episode, Jay admits to Abby that he feels something for her. But there’s another woman in the picture as well; she works as a counselor at the institution where he works. Jay is curious as to whether Abby could have feelings for him as well. If not, he plans to keep his relationship with his coworker.
The rest of the episode was devoted to Abby deciding between the two men. She called one of them just before the credits rolled. She leaves a message and says, “I have been wondering about you, and I think maybe we might try this.” But did she call Jay or Evan? The trailer for season 6 suggests Evan received the call.
