Romance anime comes with many interesting plots and characters. However, what is even better than romance anime is romance anime with a lot of comedy. We have many such romedy, or rom-com, anime. Such anime not only made its viewer’s hearts flutter with excitement but also made them want to jump through their screens and sort things out for the lovely characters it introduced us to. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun is one such anime. In this rom-com anime, the main character is caught up in a big fat absurd misunderstanding that becomes the driving storyline of the anime. Regardless, it is fun to watch. Thus, below are ten anime like Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun.
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun, or Monthly Girls’ Nozaki Kun, is adapted from a manga written and illustrated by Izumi Tsubaki. On the 26th of June 2013, an audio drama was released, followed by an anime a year later. The anime was produced by the studio Doga Kobo and aired from the 7th of July to the 22nd of September 2014. It tells us the story of Chiyo Sakura, who has fallen in love with her classmate Umetaro Nozaki. However, because of a series of misunderstandings, he ends up giving her his autograph since he is secretly a famous Mangaka and thought she was a fan. Not only this, but the misunderstanding also caused Sakura to work as his assistant. In turn, she comes across new friends as well as tries to convey her feelings to the oblivious workaholic, Nozaki Kun.
Ouran High School Host Club
The first anime like Nozaki Kun on the list is Ouran High School Host Club. This anime probably has more absurd situations but, regardless, manages to make us all laugh. It is an anime adapted from a manga written and illustrated by Bisco Hatori. The anime aired in the year 2006 and was produced by Studio Bones. It tells us the story of Haruhi Fujioka, who joins Ouran High School, a prestigious school meant for rich kids. However, since she keeps to herself usually, she tries to find a quiet secluded place to study and spend time. She comes across the Ouran third music room.
It was the perfect place for her, but sadly the room wasn’t vacant as it was being used by the Ouran High School Host Club. This club consisted of 6 dazzling male students, and the purpose of it was to entertain female students by talking and offering them tea and snacks. Unfortunately, Haruhi ends up breaking a really expensive vase and, to compensate for it has to work as the errand boy for the club boys. Yep, she is mistaken as a boy for her demeanor and short hair. As the story unfolds, she is made a permanent host-club member as she is a pro at holding female students’ attention.
Bakuman
The next anime does not have any absurd situations. It probably has a romance story that isn’t very complicated. However, what brings this anime on the list is that they both center around the creation of manga and the life of mangakas. Although, Bakuman dives deeper into this theme. Bakuman is created by the creators of the famous series Death Note – Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. J.C. Staff adapted the series into an anime in the year 2010. The series ran on till 2013, ending with 75 episodes.
It tells us the story of a boy named Moritaka Mashiro who enjoys drawing in a notebook. This notebook was discovered by his classmate Takagi Akito. The latter then asks Mashiro to become the manga artist for his stories. However, Mashiro declines and states that his uncle died from overworking himself as a mangaka. In the end, he agrees. They then meet Miho Azuki, and Takagi lets her in on their goals of becoming manga artists. Azuki, who also happens to be Mashiro’s crush, reveals that she wants to be a voice actress. This is when Mashiro confesses and tells her that they both should marry each other when their goals are accomplished. Azuki agrees under the condition that they do not meet each other until it happens. The story then takes us on the long, emotional, comedic, and inspiring journey of these kids working hard to fulfill their goals.
Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku
The next anime is very interesting and probably my favorite among the romance genre in anime, as well as relatable. It’s Difficult to Love an Otaku may not revolve around high school students or manga artists but around adults and their hobbies as grown-up Otakus. It is a manga written and illustrated by Fujita. The studio A-1 Pictures produced an anime series in the year 2018 consisting of 11 episodes. The series also has a live-action film that was released in the year 2020.
It tells us the story of Narumi Momose, who is an Otaku as well as a Fujoshi. However, because of being one, she faces many relationship problems. That is why she decides to keep her hobbies a secret and carry on with her adult life. However, she comes across her co-worker, who is also a childhood friend, Hirotaka Nifuji. He also is a game Otaku and finds out about Narumi’s secret. He then suggests that she should date an Otaku, like him, as he has liked her since they were kids. They then get into a relationship, and thus, the anime focuses on how they develop their relationship as Otakus.
Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to The Animation
The name of the next anime could describe the relationship shared between Nozaki and Sakura, making it an anime like Nozaki Kun. However, their personalities do not match at all, and the anime itself gives out mature themes. Also known as The Comic Artist and his Assistant, it is adapted from a manga written and illustrated by Hiroyuki. In the year 2014, a 12-episode anime series was released by the studio Zexcs.
It tells us the story of a manga artist named Yuuki Aito, who is known to be a pervert as he is obsessed with drawing obscene illustrations. Not only this, but he also tends to overly express his love for those around him. On the other hand, we have Sahoto Ashisu, his assistant, that is the complete opposite of him. However, she has to deal with most of the things Yuuki does. This creates most of the comical aspects of the anime.

Ore Monogatari!!
Also known as My Love Story!!, Ore Monogatari!! is a manga series written by Kazune Kawahara and illustrated by Aruko. The studio Madhouse adapted the series into an anime that aired from the 8th of April 2015 to the 23rd of September 2015, consisting of 24 episodes. The series was also adapted into a live-action film and was released on the 31st of October 2015.
This anime may not have a complicated love story like Nozaki Kun, but it does have a cute and romantic one. It introduces us to a tall character named Takeo Gouda. He does not seem to fit in much as he is very muscular and looks older in age. Besides this, he does not have much luck in getting a girlfriend as they all end up liking his good-looking best friend, Makoto Sunakawa. Things change for him when he comes across Rinko Yamato and saves her from an incident. The series thus lets us in on the cute yet awkward relationship developing between Takeo and Rinko.
D-Frag!
D-Fragments, better known as D-Frag!, is a manga series written and illustrated by Tomoya Haruno. The manga was adapted into an anime series by the studio Brain’s Base. It ran from the 6th of January 2014 to the 24th of March 2014 and consisted of 12 episodes along with an OVA. This anime focuses more on the comedic aspects making the situations in the anime like the ones in Nozaki Kun.
The anime introduces us to the school rebel named Kenji Kazama, who is forced to join the Game Creation Club by the members of the club at school. However, the club members all consist of female students that are close to driving Kenji to insanity. As a result, he tries to distance himself from the club as well as its members as much as he can. Unfortunately for him, he keeps running into them randomly during his school time, creating a series of unfortunate events for him.

The Art Club Has A Problem!
The Art Club Has A Problem is an anime whose characters are as unique as those in Nozaki Kun. It is adapted from a manga written and illustrated by Imigimuru. It was adapted into a 12-episode anime on the 7th of July 2016 by the studio Feel.
In this romantic comedy anime, we are introduced to an art club at Tsukimori Middle School. However, the only person truly interested in the club and its activities is Usami Mizuki. Besides her, we have the character Uchimaki Subaru who loves his 2D waifu a lot and only desires to paint her. Interestingly enough, the president of the club too is uninterested in the club and is most of the time caught sleeping. The anime thus focuses on the daily life of these characters as they also discover what they truly desire along the way.

Working!!
Another anime like Nozaki Kun and with exclamation marks in its title is Working!!. This anime is inspired by a manga written and illustrated by Karino Takatsu. The anime series was adapted by the studio A-1 Pictures and was released in the year 2011.
Although this anime does not focus on the lives of High Schoolers, it introduces us to a diverse and unique set of characters who are passionate about working in a restaurant as well as the relationship they grow as colleagues. Here, the main character, Souta Takanashi, is hired by the cute Popura Taneshima to work at a family restaurant named Wagnaria. Besides having a crush on her Popura, Souta learns a lot from his fellow workers, and they not only become close friends but also strive to make their restaurant the best in the city.

School Rumble
If I had to choose the most similar anime to Nozaki Kun from this list, it would be this one. School Rumble is adapted from a manga written and illustrated by Jin Kobayashi. The anime series consists of 3 seasons, created by Studio Comet, airing from 2004 to 2008.
As mentioned above, the main characters are very similar to Nozaki and Sakura. We are introduced to the interesting lives of the students from Yagami High School’s class 2-C. Here, the main character Tenma Tsukamoto is head over heels for her classmate Oji Karasuma. However, like Nozaki, Oji remains oblivious to her confessions. This is when the narrative shifts here when we are introduced to the main male character Kenji Harima who has a crush on Tenma but, like her, fails to convey his feelings to her. Since he is nothing like Oji, this romedy anime takes us on many interesting situations between these characters.

Toradora!
Finally, probably the most interesting series on the list is Toradora! It is an anime series adapted from the light novel series written by Yuyuko Takemiya and illustrated by Yasu. The anime adaptation was created by the studio J.C. Staff in 2008. Not only this, but the series also has a game that came out in 2009.
It introduces us to the lives of 5 unique and interesting characters. The main character Ryuji Takasu starts his second year of High School with his best friend, Yusaku Kitamura, and his crush, Minori Kushieda, in class. Everything seems the perfect setting he could ask for, but he also meets Taiga Aisaka, Minori’s best friend and the school’s most feared student. Interestingly enough, Taiga has a crush on Yusaku. When they find out each others’ secrets, they decide to help each other out by creating many “romantic” situations, which sadly fails. Since they spent a lot of time together, their friends began suspecting that they probably are dating. To make the whole scenario more interesting, we are introduced to the fifth character of this group, Ami Kawashima, who develops a crush on Ryuji.
