The young Korean actor Choi Min Young has barely gotten through all the buzz around him after his portrayal of Baek Yi Hyun in the super-hit Korean drama Twenty Five, Twenty One by the television channel tvN, and now he has been confirmed for a brand new role! It has been reported that Choi Min Young has bagged the role of the main lead in Netflix’s XO, Kitty, which is a spin-off based on the hit Netflix movie franchise To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
The nineteen-year-old Choi Min Young is going global with this new opportunity to star in a Netflix show that is promoted and revered by fans worldwide. Choi Min Young is going to play the role of Dae in XO, Kitty. Dae appeared in To All the Boys: Always and Forever (2021) as Kitty’s love interest from Seoul, South Korea. In the movie, Dae was played by Jeon Ho Young.

Choi Min Young is deemed to be a “monster rookie” in the Korean entertainment industry due to his showcasing of versatile and dynamic talents from a very young age. Making his debut as a child actor in the 2014 KBS2 drama The Magic Thousand-Character Classic, he went to star in the 2016 KBS2 drama The Promise. His filmography includes impressive acting credits from popular shows like W: Two Worlds Apart (2016), Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon (2017), Chicago Typewriter (2017), Mr. Sunshine (2018), Itaewon Class (2020), and You Are My Spring (2021), among others.

The upcoming drama XO, Kitty was announced to have started production in early April, meeting many polarizing reactions from netizens: on one side, rom-com viewers couldn’t be happier that the beloved side-character from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movies Kitty is nor only getting a spin-off of her own, but also that she is getting the multi-episode series treatment; on the other hands, some viewers were appalled that this series is getting yet another addition when there are cult-favorites like Mindhunter and Santa Clarita Diet series that have been canceled despite being loved by viewers and critics alike all over the world.
Regardless, Netflix’s XO, Kitty will follow Korean American Lara Jean Covey’s little sister Kitty, played by Anna Cathcart (who is ethnically half-Irish and half-Chinese). Throughout the series, the matchmaker Kitty will come to understand that maintaining romantic relationships is a complicated business, especially when it’s your own romance that’s on the line.
