In a shocking turn of events, popular stand-up comedian Ali Wong is reportedly separating from her husband Justin Hakuta after eight years of marriage! As the comedian and actress’ rep has confirmed the news, further stating that the split is rather amicable and the two will continue to co-parent their two daughters.
Ali Wong and Justin Hakuta met during a friend’s wedding reception back in 2010 and later got married in San Franciso on November 27, 2014. They later welcomed two children together, daughters, namely Mari Hakuta and Nikki Hakuta.

The divorce announcement surely came off as a huge shock for fans as Ali Wong has always been hyping her man up during her shows. She once admitted during her interview with Ellen DeGeneres how supportive her husband had been throughout. However, it seems like marital bliss has come to an end after all.

In Ali Wong’s newest Netflix special, Don Wong, she makes several jokes about their marriage and even admits that she is rather jealous of single people. She further said how she, too, was once free but asked her husband to ask her to go to prison. She joked about it, saying that she is in monogamous jail and doesn’t know how to get out of it. This is not the first time that the comedian has mentioned her husband in several of her stand-up acts.
Wong has earlier joked about the fact that she married Justin Hakuta because her comedy career was looking uncertain, so she trapped Hakuta! Ali Wong even joked about how she cannot afford to get a divorce, explaining how she needs her husband way more than he needs me. The Always Be My Maybe star earlier disclosed how Hakuta’s family made her sign a prenup before her wedding. However, the comedian later admitted that being forced to sign that prenup was one of the greatest things that ever happened to her and her career. Ali Wong joked how after knowing that Justin was attending Harvard Business School, she planned to trap him!
