Another budding romance movie for all romance lovers! A Royal Runaway Romance is a Rom-Com that aired on 9th April 2022 and it stars Australian actress Phillipa Northeast along with Brant Daughterly. It also features Canadian actor Andre Anthony, as a potential hero. So, it’s a love triangle! The story may sound victorian-ish but is very American. But ironically ‘A Royal Runaway Romance’ filming location was not in the US.
The story is about a Princess of modern times, rest assured it’s not a period drama. Princess Amelia of the fictional kingdom Bundbury is not the typical princess you see. She is rather fearless and fond of exploring new places. But one common ground is that she also has a Prince. The prince is not really a prince but an American artist and Amelia loves him. Princess Amelia travels to meet him with a companion but ends up falling for the companion himself.
This is just one of those feel-good romances that you need now and then. Movies like these really bring you up and make you happy! And make you realize you are single.

‘A Royal Runaway Romance’ Filming Locations
Even though the story is a typical Hollywood romance, the filming took place in Vancouver, Canada. A Royal Runaway Romance filming took place till February 2022, and it was released in March this year.
The actors shared their experiences filming in the Great White North. Daugherty talked about how it was filming away from his family saying that “it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
Philipa Noreast who plays Princess Amelia also shared her amazing experience filming in Canada. And she even gave a shout to Canada on Instagram, she captioned the post “My, my, Canada, that was a wild amount of fun!”
What is the Story of Hallmark’s New Rom-Com?
The title of the movie says it all! It is about a Princess of Bundbury and her journey to finding true love. Princess Amelia is in line to be Queen after her mother Ava who is stepping down. While preparing for her big responsibility, she falls in love with Wes who is an artist from Chicago. The American-obsessed Princess believes that he is her soulmate.
Although traveling across borders is not easy for a Princess. Amelia’s mother does not allow her to do that but she eventually does on a condition. That she will be accompanied by a bodyguard all the time. And yes the traveling companion I mentioned earlier is her bodyguard, Grady.
Amelia reaches the states for her uncle’s birthday but nobody knows her secret plan. She tries to sneak out with Grady’s car. But unfortunately gets caught, and now Grady has to accompany her on her trip. The Princess gets the trip of her dreams and becomes friends with Grady. Turns out, they have a lot in common and have fun together. However, Amelia doesn’t see it as more than friendship and is not deterred from her plan to see Wes. But eventually, she does realize that what she felt with Grady is actually Love!
The story is pure and simple but gives a great moral at the end. A Royal Runaway Romance is conveying the message that it’s not the destination that matters but the journey. And more importantly, who that journey is with.
The Cast of ‘A Royal Runaway Romance’
The Hallmark Network movie has a mixed bag of casts. Princess Amelia is played by Australian actress Philipa Northeast who is popular for her role in Home and Away as Evelyn MacGuire. Starring opposing her is the talented American Actor Brant Daugherty as bodyguard Grady.
Remember the guy Amelia travels across the border for? The charming American artist Wes is played ironically by Canadian actor Andre Anthony.
Apart from these three young actors, it also stars Sara Jane as Amelia’s mother Ava, and Vincent Gale as her Uncle, Andreas. The David Weaver directorial received a pleasant review as of yet.
