The ‘Pretty Boy’ from the K-Drama ‘Twenty Five Twenty One’ has proven his potential as an actor in yet another work. The 2002 born actor, ‘Choi Hyun Wook’, is young but has had already bagged the Best New Actor at the 2021 SBS Drama Awards. He debuted with the web series as a lead actor called ‘Real:Time: Love’ in 2019. He then went on to participate in the television series ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Racket Boys’ which won him the Best New Actor in 2021. ‘Choi Hyun Wook in Twenty Five Twenty One’
The drama shows Kim Tae Ri’s character (Nam Do Hee) as a talented fencer who is a part of the high school team. But the high school team had to break up following the IMF crisis. This leaves Nam Do Hee charging towards her dream all alone, facing various obstacles on the way. Nam Joo Hyuk’s character (Baek Yi Jin) is initially a member of a rich family, but his father’s company goes bankrupt because of the financial crisis faced by the nation. He then becomes a determined individual whose aim is to get out of the situation he is in. He works several part-time jobs while studying.
Choi Hyun Wook’s character, ‘Moon Ji Woong’, is the most popular student in his high school, and although he’s not shown to be having any specific plans for his future, he has a nice personality. He is the ‘Pretty Boy’ of Class 7 who also has a great sense of fashion. He is usually involved with Bona’s character ‘Go Yu Rim’ who’s also a fencer like Nam Do Hee and is trying her best to protect her family.
What Choi Hyun Wook had to say about his role in ‘Twenty Five Twenty One’
When asked about his role in the drama ‘Twenty Five Twenty One’, Choi Hyun Wook said that he was worried about his character standing out too much in the drama because of his bright personality. So, he tried to tone down his acting and blend in with the rest of the characters in the drama. He also said that there were several times when he was unsatisfied with his acting and would go back home to re-read the script. He went on to talk about his character who, as he spoke, was supposed to be full of confidence owing to the ‘Pretty Boy’ title given to him and his great fashion sense. He expressed his effort to act as confident as the story of the drama required him to be.
Sharing his experience while filming the drama, he said that he was sure that what he learned by interacting with the staff members of the drama, the director, the writer, and his co-stars, would come in handy for him in the future. He was happy to mention that people have started recognizing him from the different roles that he played in various works. Along with this, he added that he wants to be a versatile actor who isn’t recognized for just one role, but for various parts. He wants to deliver something new every time he works in a different role.
