After the first season, Peacock’s Fresh Prince sequel still has a lot more of Will’s journey to tell, so here’s everything that you need to know about Bel-Air Season 2. Although The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s 1990s sitcom aired for six seasons, the next season wasn’t always certain. Thankfully, Peacock has provided some reassurance to Bel-Air as it plots out the destiny of Will and the Banks family’s dramatic makeover.
Season 1 of Bel-Air ended just as spectacularly as it began, but with even more unanswered concerns regarding Will’s mysterious past and now his future options. Will went from believing he was mistaken about his father all along to discovering he was exactly the man his mother told him he was once his father, Lou, returned after a 13-year absence. Will’s suffering was heightened in the Bel-Air Season 1 finale when he discovered that his mother, Auntie Viv, and Uncle Phil had lied to him about Lou his whole childhood. Here’s all you need to know about Season 2 of Bel-Air, including the cast, plot, and expected release date.
Bel-Air Season 1 Recap
Will got into “one little brawl” on the playground in West Philly, much as in the original show. The minor brawl was a little more dangerous in this version since it involved a pistol and a local drug king, Rashad, who was out to kill Will and his closest friend, Tray. Will finds it tough to blend in when he first arrives in Bel-Air. Uncle Phil and Carlton took a little longer to welcome him than Ashley, Hillary, and Viv. Will quickly discovered that Carlton was the campus’s big man. Carlton appears to be the king of the jungle at school until Will begins to sparkle on the basketball floor. The rivalry between Carlton and Will is intense for the first half of the season until Will steps in to assist Carlton in kicking out his heroin addiction. Despite Will’s new friendship with Lisa, Carlton and Will slowly begin to reconnect.
The rivalry between Viv and Vy, as well as determining what was best for Will, was one of the season’s central themes. And one of the topics that kept coming up was Will’s father. Nobody wanted to speak about him because he was a mystery. Will requested Geoffrey to look in for him, and when he did, Phil suspended him but explained to the family that Geoffrey had to leave for a bit due to a family medical emergency. Will, however, let it go when presented with the envelope containing information about dear old dad.
Bel-Air Season 1 Ending
The family is jumping for joy after Phil’s surprising revelation that he was dropping out of the DA campaign. When he discovered his opponents had dirt on Will, he decided the best course of action was to take a step back and enjoy more time with his family. During this time, Phil’s opponent, Fred, who also happens to be Lisa’s father, alerted Lisa that Will was hiding something important. Lisa leaves Will after confronting him and discovering the truth. Hillary and Jazz end up in each other’s arms, believing it to be a bigger mystery than it is. Hillary also strikes up a friendship with Ivy, a wildly successful influencer with whom she may be able to make a future career path.
Lou, Will’s long-lost father, finally shows up and tells Phil that he was tracked down by Geoffrey and now wants to see Will. Overhearing everything, Carlton locates Geoffrey’s research file and informs Will that Lou has arrived in town. Lou was in jail, and Phil was his attorney, which was the big secret. They all decide that Will can meet Lou after facing Phil and Viv. The meeting is tense. They had a brief moment of getting along until Lou began blaming Vy for everything that had gone wrong. The meeting turns tense, Lou loses his cool, and Will dismisses him, swearing to never see him again.
Will is outraged and makes the decision to leave Bel-Air. Will leaves despite Carlton begging him to stay and placing a large stack of cash into his pocket. The only way to find him would be to use his car’s GPS and guess who’s the one who knows how to do it: Geoffrey. The entire Banks clan is furious about how everything has fallen, as the family finds that Geoffrey isn’t just abroad on the family business. Carlton takes Lisa’s help in finding Will, but it is his pal Jazz who finds him. Will is sure that no one wants him; nevertheless, Jazz assures him that there is only one person who does not want him. And now is the time for him to decide where he wants to be.
Will There Be Bel-Air Season 2?
The first season of Peacock’s Fresh Prince remake Bel-Air has come to a conclusion, but fans may be certain that Season 2 is now in the works. After Peacock won a three-way takeover bid between HBO Max and Netflix, the series was handed a two-season order in September 2020. Will Smith, executive producer, and face of the classic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, said he was “excited” about the “unique” contract.
The decision paid off, even though Peacock’s dramatic reworking of the original ’90s series didn’t air for another year and a half. Bel-Air is now Peacock’s most-streamed web series, as per Comcast CEO and chairman Brian Roberts. But he didn’t say how many people watched it. Morgan Cooper, who acts as a co-writer, director, and executive producer on the show, found it “very helpful” to go into Bel-Air knowing Peacock believed so passionately in the team’s concept.
Bel-Air Season 2 Possible Release Date
The first season of Bel-Air started filming in late 2021. Will’s actor Jabari Banks took to Instagram onset in October of that year, and the season was released a few months later on Sundays. Bel-Air Season 2 release date is yet to be announced by Peacock. However, given the release dates for other new Peacock originals and the fact that Bel-Air Season 2 has yet to start filming, the premiere date is likely to be somewhere in early 2023. Because Season 2 of Bel-Air has already been ordered, the reboot won’t be waiting for Peacock’s approval to start planning its production.

Bel-Air Season 2 Cast
Season 2 casting has yet to be announced by Peacock, although lead Jabari Banks will almost certainly return. Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Adrian Holmes as Philip Banks, Coco Jones as Hilary Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks, Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey, Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, Jordan L. Jones as Jazz, and Simone Joy Jones as Lisa are among the primary cast members who are expected to return. In Episode 9, classic Fresh Prince cast members Vernee Watson-Johnson (Viola “Vy” Smith) and Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv) made cameo appearances, indicating that there may be more surprise guest stars in Season 2.
Cooper previously suggested that “a lot of different concepts are in the cooker right now” and that he and his wonderful show creators and producers team are gathered together and plotting the story. It’s also full of surprises, he said. It’s going to be a wild ride, and this show’s potential is enormous, thanks in large part to the fantastic cast. The cast is ready to take on everything the producers throw at them.
What Will Happen In Bel-Air Season 2?
Will came to a crossroads at the end of season one, deciding whether to stay in LA or set out on his own. While we want him to return to the loving embrace of the family in Season 2, we believe that Season 2 will focus on how that happens. In the final, things were running high, leaving Will feeling unsure of his loved ones. The plot of Bel-Air Season 2 will revolve around how they will fix the damage. For the time being, his addiction is behind him, but he still suffers from worry and is crushed by the pressure to succeed. That mixture is a recipe for disaster.
We don’t expect him to be the only one who will be thrown into the emotional vortex, though not as violently. Ashley Banks, played by Akira Akbar, had a minor part in season one of Bel-Air. Although she begins to understand her sexual identity by telling her sister Hilary about her same-sex crush and campaigning for LGBTQ+ causes, the series barely scratches the surface of her story arc, so we expect the next season to go further.
Under the cover of professionalism, Reed Broderick was pulling the moves on Vi, saying beautiful words. Okay, he didn’t come out and declare he liked her, but Broderick, we’ve got your number. Vivian’s proposal to band up to help young rising musicians advance in the industry could put their working relationship in trouble. The house is physically falling apart without Geoffrey, so his return feels likely. After Geoffrey’s duplicity brought Lou to their door despite Phil’s wishes, it’ll be exciting to see how he and Phil restore their friendship.
