Simone Biles, 27, discovered that the glamorous life of a WAG (Wife and Girlfriend) isn’t always as it seems, especially during the holidays. This year, she and her husband, Jonathan Owens, spent Christmas evening in a hotel, as Owens was preparing for the Chicago Bears’ game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, December 26.
Biles shared on Instagram Story on December 25, “Christmas looks a lil different when ya man gotta report to the hotel,” highlighting the unique nature of their holiday. While the Bears played at Soldier Field in Chicago, many NFL teams, including Owens’ Bears, follow strict curfews and are required to stay in hotels the night before home games.
Despite the situation, Biles found a way to make the holiday special, spending time with Torrie Brown, the partner of Bears tight end Marcedes Lewis. She shared an image on her Instagram Story, where the pair were seen holding up orange cocktails, wishing Brown a “Merry Christmas.” Brown, in turn, called Biles her “Christmas boo” when she reposted the image.
Biles has been a regular presence at Owens’ games since completing her Gold Across America tour in November. As the couple adjusts to their new normal, the gymnast revealed to Us Weekly before Thanksgiving that the holidays now revolve around Owens’ football schedule. She shared, “I’ll fly up in the morning and fly right back, just so we can still spend Thanksgiving together.”
In addition to attending the games, Biles manages holiday preparations from afar, bringing in a crew to handle cooking and hosting at home. She shared that she arranges for a chef to cook for the family, and sometimes Owens’ teammates join them if they don’t have family nearby. This arrangement allows them to have a more relaxed holiday despite the challenges.
Biles and Owens, who got married in April 2023, are also focused on their new home. Although their dream house is still under construction, Biles shared that they’ll wait until after the football season to move in. The couple has been patiently waiting for the house to be completed, with the backyard now being finished. Owens has been hands-on in the design process, adding a half-basketball court, barbeque pit, in-ground trampoline, and a pool to their new home.
With the Bears’ season winding down, the couple is looking forward to spending more time together in their new space. Their holiday celebrations may have looked different this year, but they’re making the best of their unique circumstances.
