Jason Kelce recently made a playful reference to Taylor Swift’s favorite number on the “New Heights” podcast. In the December 24 episode, during a sponsored segment, Jason revealed a discount code, “Pop1387,” for orange ice pops. He teased the audience by asking, “I wonder what the 13 is for?”
While Jason knew the “87” in the code was a nod to his brother Travis Kelce’s jersey number for the Kansas City Chiefs, he couldn’t resist poking fun at his younger sibling. “It’s probably because it’s my favorite number, right?” Jason joked, as Travis agreed but quickly pointed out that “Friday the 13th” had recently passed, which coincided with Swift’s 35th birthday.
Jason also explained that he wore No. 13 during his youth hockey days, which further added to the playful exchange. However, Swifties are well aware of the significance of the number 13 in Taylor Swift’s life. Not only is it her birthdate, but it has also served as her lucky number throughout her career, making it a key part of many Easter Eggs in her work.
Since Travis and Swift began dating in the summer of 2023, both brothers have dropped subtle references to Taylor and her favorite number on the podcast. One such moment occurred when Travis and Jason were in London in June, recording an episode at a bar while Swift was performing at Wembley Stadium. During this episode, the brothers noticed a bar manager wearing a No. 13 uniform, which led to Travis asking if the number was a lucky one for her.
The number 13 seems to be a recurring theme, as Travis, in particular, has linked it to his relationship with Swift. Jason humorously added that 13 plus 87, combining both their favorite numbers, was a perfect match. Travis even raised a glass to this playful connection.
In addition to Travis’ subtle nods to Swift’s lucky number, Taylor has shown her own admiration for the number 87. She has been seen wearing jewelry, a Santa hat, and a puffer coat with Travis’ number prominently featured, especially at Chiefs games, signaling her support and connection to the Kelce family.
