Paul Mescal stars as Lucius in Gladiator 2, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s original 2000 film. He’s joined by Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Joseph Quinn in what promises to be an exciting continuation of the Gladiator saga.
A source recently revealed first-look photos of Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and the cast in Gladiator 2. They also confirmed that the trailer for the film will be released on July 9.
In Gladiator 2, set nearly two decades after the original film, Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, is now grown and living in Numidia, North Africa, estranged from his mother Lucilla, portrayed by Connie Nielsen.
Initially leading a peaceful life with his family, Lucius is drawn into conflict when the Roman forces under General Acacius, played by Pedro Pascal, escalate their presence in the region. The film also sees the return of Sir Derek Jacobi as Senator Gracchus.
Gladiator 2’s release date has been moved up to November 15 from its original November 22 date. The trailer, anticipated on July 9, is expected to provide more details on the supporting cast.
Denzel Washington plays a former slave turned influential Roman merchant, while Joseph Quinn and Fred Hechinger portray co-emperors Caracalla and Geta respectively. Hechinger stepped in for Barry Keoghan, who had scheduling conflicts. Gladiator 2 will hit UK cinemas on November 15.
