Shannen Doherty has filed for spousal support from her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko in Los Angeles, seeking $15,343 per month starting from June 1, 2024, and asking for $9,100 to cover attorney fees and costs.
“As a result of my recurrent health issues, I have been largely unable to work and have no future employment prospects. Today, virtually all of the income I earn is residual income from work that I performed prior to marriage,” Doherty, who has been battling stage four cancer for years, wrote in court documents.
“The majority of my residual income is from a television show called Charmed. I recently learned that Charmed will no longer be streaming on any major streaming platform after June 30, 2024. As a result, my future residual income will dramatically decrease,” the filing continued, noting that Doherty has not worked since 2022.
Shannen Doherty further claimed that Kurt Iswarienko has the financial capability to assist with her medical expenses, which amounted to $21,640 in 2023.
She stated that these expenses are expected to rise significantly after losing her SAG health insurance due to not being employed. Doherty alleged that Iswarienko has prioritized his own lifestyle over providing support for her medical needs.
“While I have been unable to work, incurring exorbitant medical expenses not covered by insurance to undergo experimental treatments in hopes of prolonging my life, Kurt has been utilizing the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights for his ‘agent’, while simultaneously claiming that he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” Doherty alleged, referring to Iswarienko’s agent, Collier Grimm, whom she claims is also his romantic partner.
Although Kurt’s income is substantially more than mine, he has not made any temporary spousal support payments and has made no contributions to my attorneys’ or accounting fees and costs since the time our divorce action was filed.”
In addition to seeking spousal support and assistance with medical expenses, Shannen Doherty claimed that Kurt Iswarienko has not provided necessary documents to assess his earnings, assets, and income.
She filed a Motion to Compel to obtain these documents, and is requesting $11,800 from Iswarienko to cover legal fees she incurred in pursuing these documents.
In her spousal support request, Doherty alleged that Iswarienko’s failure to produce certain documents is a deliberate strategy.
“It is abundantly clear to me that Kurt is intentionally delaying settlement in hopes that I will not survive the divorce proceedings,” she claimed.
Shannen Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, which had spread to her lymph nodes. She announced remission in 2017 but disclosed a recurrence to stage four in 2020. By June 2023, the cancer had metastasized to her brain, becoming terminal, and later spread to her bones.
