Veteran sports analyst Stephen A. Smith made big predictions about Bronny James’ NBA career on his show. He also guessed about LeBron James’ desire to play with his son.
As the 2024 NBA Draft combine begins, future NBA players are working hard to prove their readiness. Among them is Bronny James, son of LeBron James. Despite a cardiac arrest during practice affecting his rookie season at USC, Bronny is making up for it at the combine.
The 19-year-old is expected to be a second-round pick, possibly by the Los Angeles Lakers with their 55th pick, in addition to their 17th overall pick.
After Bronny’s strong performance at the combine, more teams might be interested in him, especially if LeBron is willing to join him.
Could Bronny & LeBron James End Up in Dallas?
Stephen A. Smith mentioned that the Dallas Mavericks might try to draft Bronny before the Lakers:
“But here’s a newsflash, what I’ve also heard. Bronny James may not make it to the Lakers’ second-round pick. Because if a team like the Dallas Mavericks could position themselves to get him in the second round, they’ll take him.
Because LeBron said he wants to go where his son goes, and if you’re the Dallas Mavericks and you got Kyrie, and you got Luka, and LeBron James is willing to come to Big D, that might be the first time something is more popular than the Cowboys.”
Last year, there were rumors that the Mavericks were interested in LeBron James, but drafting Bronny might not mean LeBron comes to Dallas right away.
Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports, says picking Bronny might not guarantee a spot for LeBron. It is believed that playing with his father will let Bronny be himself and avoid outside pressure, wherever he ends up in the draft.
