Rick and Morty: The Anime is an upcoming spin-off of the popular Adult Swim animated series, set to be released later this year.
This full anime series expands on the success of earlier anime shorts that presented alternate universe versions of Rick and Morty in various anime-inspired scenarios. The anime will consist of ten episodes and will be produced by Sola Entertainment, directed and written by Takashi Sano from Telecom Animation Film.
Rick and Morty: The Anime
The series will maintain its connection with the Rick and Morty universe but will embrace a distinctly anime aesthetic and storytelling approach. With the involvement of talented producers like Maki Nagano, Max Nishi, and Takenari Maeda, along with an experienced animation team, the project promises to deliver a unique blend of the original show’s humor and style infused with anime sensibilities.
Notably, Rick and Morty: The Anime will initially release with Japanese audio and English subtitles, catering to the global anime audience.
However, responding to fan inquiries, Jason DeMarco, Senior Vice President at Warner Bros. Animation, confirmed that an English dubbed version is also in the works, though specific details about the voice cast or release timeline for the dub have yet to be disclosed.
The production team boasts a diverse array of talents, including Yu Kiyozono as animation producer, Arisa Matsuzawa as art director, and Makiko Kojima as color designer. The technical aspects of the series, such as CGI direction, special effects supervision, and sound design, are also handled by accomplished professionals in the field of anime production.
Music for Rick and Morty: The Anime will be composed by Tetsuya Takahashi at Terra-Musica, promising an original and engaging soundtrack to complement the series’ narrative and visual elements.
