In a recent episode of ‘The Old Man & The Three’ podcast featuring JJ Redick, the former NBA player and current NBA analyst, shared his top 5 picks for the KIA NBA MVP Award 2024.
“For me, MVP came down to 3 guys: Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Ultimately, I gave my vote to Nikola Jokic for MVP by the slightest of margins.
Luka Doncic is in second, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is third, Jayson Tatum is fourth in MVP, and Jalen Brunson is fifth in MVP. Giannis was the other guy I gave consideration to just outside the top 5,” Redick revealed during the podcast.
While the top three picks on many lists align, Redick delves deeper into his analysis, considering Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum as the fourth player before naming Jalen Brunson as the fifth.
Nikola Jokic will be awarded the KIA NBA MVP for the 2024 season
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks is also under consideration. The usual suspects among the top three picks include Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
According to Redick’s insights, Nikola Jokic is poised to receive the KIA NBA MVP for the 2024 season. If Jokic secures this honor, he will join a select group of players in NBA history who have won the award at least three times. This elite club includes Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Moses Malone.
Only five players have more MVP wins than this group, including LeBron James (4), Wilt Chamberlain (4), Michael Jordan (5), Bill Russell (5), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6).
JJ Redick’s analysis offers an intriguing perspective on the race for the MVP title, highlighting the outstanding performances of these talented NBA stars in the 2024 season.
