The future of Yellowstone’s final season is uncertain, according to actress Lainey Wilson.
While it’s confirmed that the season will have more episodes, the start of production remains a mystery for the cast.
Wilson revealed at the iHeartRadio Awards that neither she nor her co-star Kelly Reilly know when they’ll be back to work.
The planning for the final season has been uncertain for a while, partly because of the disruptions caused by strikes, and also because of Kevin Costner’s departure from the show due to a dispute with the creator.
Although Costner might return, it’s unclear how or if it will happen, leaving fans unsure about what’s next for the series.
“I’m still waiting to find out what’s happening with Yellowstone. I have absolutely no clue. I did talk to [series star] Kelly Reilly the other day and, you know, we’ll see what happens. Once they give us the call — we’re there.”
What Character Does Lainey Wilson Portray in Yellowstone?
In Yellowstone, Wilson plays Abby, a musician character who brings a fresh perspective and adds to the show’s connection with country music and broader cultural themes.
As a country music artist herself, Wilson’s casting brings authenticity to her character. She enhances the series’ exploration of American West themes like love, loss, and preserving a way of life.
Abby’s role in the series enriches the storytelling through music, resonating with Yellowstone’s focus on themes. For instance themes like land preservation and the challenges of Western living.
Including a character linked to the country music scene reflects the show’s aim to incorporate authentic elements of Americana culture, as envisioned by creator Taylor Sheridan.
Yellowstone’s final season is set to air in November this year, and the entire series can be streamed on Peacock.
